They have nice, clean, cute, and decent-sized rooms. The staff is friendly. The restaurant/beer hall is also good and convenient. A HUGE breakfast is included, and it has a large variety to keep you full way past lunch.

This pension is in a great location, on the edge of Old Town, but it’s close to New Town. It is also just a block off the river, so it’s very easy to get to one of the city’s many bridges. It is less than a 10-minute walk to the Old Town Square.

It's about a block form a Tesco (where the metro station is located), so if you need something or forgot to pack something, it's easy to pick it up here. Plus, being the near the Tesco, you can buy film and other tourist needs, but at standard prices versus trying to buy film next door to the astronomical clock!

The hotel has "historic" rooms for a 10% higher rate. The basic room I stayed in was very nicely decorated, with furniture I would say has more character than most hotels I have stayed in. At my first quick glance of the room, I asked my friend to make sure we weren't accidentally given an "historic" room. I would guess the historic rooms are pretty nice.

The hotel also provides a computer with free Internet access, which was fabulous.

This is a fantastic hotel! It’s in Stare Mesto, about five minutes’ walk to the main square and 10 minutes to the Charles Bridge. Very safe neighborhood, with several good pubs nearby, as well as restaurants and shops.

Hotel prices in Prague are seasonal, and almost all have a significant jump from April to July. We paid $75 a night for a huge double in March, but on April 1 that same room jumped to $110 a night. Even at $110, our room was a great deal. (The price includes breakfast and tax, which was about 22%.)

Pension U Medvidku offers two types of rooms – regular and historic. The historic rooms were created when the hotel was remodeled, and each has its own personality. Ours had exposed beams dating back hundreds of years, and was huge – probably 20 feet by 25 feet. It was definitely worth the extra 10% more it cost than a regular room. All rooms have a private bath, too.

For a country whose people aren’t big on breakfast, they really know how to fix one. The breakfast included in the room rate was absolutely amazing. Every morning, there was a selection of meats, cheeses, bread, sausages, eggs, cereal, yogurt, pastries, coffee, tea and juice. It was plenty to get us going every day – I don’t think we ever needed to eat lunch.

Make sure you visit the attached pub for a pint of Budvar. The pub has two sides – the left is more of a bar, while the right is a bar and restaurant. The historic bar on the left side is gorgeous and shouldn’t be missed.

The front-desk staff all spoke English, and were very helpful in arranging a taxi to the airport. There’s also a computer in the lobby with free Internet access.

All in all, this was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Prague.
