Outrigger Hotels started their major remodel of their properties along Lewers Street this year, so there is a lot of construction in the area. That does not detract from the stay at the Imperial, though there are some minor inconveniences when walking along Lewers towards Kalakaua Blvd (the main drag in Waikiki).
It is still a great place to vacation.

We were confirmed into a studio unit. For the time that we spent in the unit, this worked just great for us.
Studio units do sleep 4 people with a murphy bed and a pull out sofa. With space limitations, I would highly recommend only 2 people staying in a studio sized unit. Studios have a mini fridge and a microwave; these worked for us for drinks and popcorn. The bathroom was a nice size: shower only but good water pressure. Bathrooms had hairdryers so no need to pack one. The countertop on the sink was small but there was a vanity over the toilet with shelves that helped.
Housekeeping comes once a week to clean and exchange towels. You can always get fresh towels from housekeeping at anytime and the resort offers beach towels so no need to pack yours.
When staying at this resort, I would recommend asking for a higher level floor. We were confirmed into the 3rd floor and our balconey looked out onto another building. The higher you are the better chance of having a view.
Parking in Honolulu is very scarce. The resort does offer valet parking for $15 per day. This is actually cheaper than some of the parking garages around. Just be aware and every hotel/condo charges a VAT tax or accommodation tax.
If you are looking for a nice resort in a great area, then this is the place for you. Resorts in Honolulu are not luxurious because of space requirements - there is no space but up! But if you are looking for the vacation because of the location and being there to experience the island, then this is the place for you!
