It's a little place on the Left Bank with a tiny, slow elevator and just so in character as I was hoping. No TV to distract my daughter, thank goodness, and in the heart of the city but a bit off the beaten path.
The room was nice and clean, large enough, with bidet - homey, and quiet. We were right around the corner from the Musee D'Orsay, the metro, and within a block of the Pont du Concorde. How convenient is that?!
The desk clerks all spoke English and that was relaxing for us. We came and went without assistance and the staff was wonderful with advice and directions when we wanted a specific destination, assisting as needed.
There were no specific amenities other than the full breakfast, which was delivered along with "Le Figaro" newspaper each day. But we had everything we needed. Basically, it was a launch pad. We spent little time there but to study and sleep.
It was a nice little place with a real "feel" of the city. I'd go there again in a heartbeat, although we did have an incident when I contracted poison ivy from the laundry - my daughter had it a few weeks before we left and I picked it up and nobody in Paris understood what it was although there's a phrase for it. We went to a pharmacy and the three non-English speaking clerks recommended a cream for eczema. I asked my desk clerk about it and he was also in the dark about the plant. He asked why do we "grow it." Oh, lucky them! But the look on his face was priceless and I had to turn away not to burst out laughing!
