The Hotel Piave was as in an excellent location, halfway between San Marco and the Rialto. The room was quite small, but this is normal for Venice. The staff was pleasant and breakfast adequate. The only complaint is that there is no staff after midnight, and a group of loud, swearing Americans were yelling obcenities at the top of their voices all, and I mean all, night. The snack bar right across the street is very convenient, but the restaurant next door, although it looks good, has lousy food, but then again, most restaurants in Venice are way overpriced and the food is usually barely edible.

The Al Piave is nice, for the money. Like most Venice hotels, the rooms are small, although it was clean and very convenient to San Marco and the Rialto areas. Breakfast was typical, and sufficient. The staff was pleasant. During our stay, there were some people yelling and screaming obscenities all of one evening and into the early morning. I don't think there was staff during the night to deal with this.

The room was midsize by Venitian standards with a safe, air conditioning, and T.V. The bathroom had a shower, sink, toilet, bidet, hair dryer, and even a towel warmer. The room, lobby, and halls are immaculate, they even remove the runners on the stairs and wash under them daily. Breakfast is included with the room. You are asked what you would first like to drink coffee, tea or hot chocolate. At your place setting is an apricot crossant with a basket of rolls. The breakfast bar had two cerals, juice, milk, fruit cocktail, six flavors of yogurt, salami, cheese, and every spread available on this earth.

The central location, just over the bridge from the Campo Santa Maria Formaosa, allows you to be at the Rialto or St. Marks in 5 minutes. Within 2 blocks you have a pizzeria, two bakeries, a tobacheria, a grocery store, a pharmacy, a bank and cash machine, two gellato/bar/coffee shops and a fruit and vegetable market.

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. I highly recommend it. My wife and I liked it so much we are renting an apartment for the next March for 10 days since we are coming back to Venezia with our 3 children.
