The Makai Club

Even though it was a standard resort for RCI, it was way more than I expected. We had our own cottage in Princeville and it had a nice deck with a view of the mountains. The place itself was huge had a nice family room and kitchen. My friends were really impressed.

Resort Experience:
If you're looking for a beautiful, relaxing setting for your vacation, this is the place! The staff bends over backwards to meet your needs. The condo gives you a feeling of being secluded. The decor is tropical and pretty, and the kitchen is wonderfully equipped. If you're looking for sparkling new or a huge pool to lie next to - this is not it. We wished our second week had been here instead of Pahio at Bali Hai Villas!

Best Things About the Resort:
The resort community had several locations that offered activites and Internet access. We had to drive to them, but it worked out.
Resort Experience:
The Makai Club is one of the older properties of the Pahio resorts. The bulk of the amenities were located at the other properties close by, but not within walking distance. The one-bedroom unit was comfortable, though the kitchen was the smallest I've even seen. The staff were friendly, and we especially enjoyed some of the basket-weaving classes at the other properties. We used the Internet access at the other properties as well, which would have been more convenient to have at the Makai Club, but they didn't have a club house. What surprised us was that the pools were not heated. Even though the air was comfortable, the pool water was still a little cool, so we really didn't swim in the pools there. We are not golfers, so we can't comment on that aspect, but it seems that many were out there, partaking of that. Princeville is more lush in general than the south part of the island, but it is a long way to visit that part, so either plan a long day trip when you go or split your trip between two accommodations.

Resort Experience:
Needs updating and minor repair. The pool is accessible to everyone. Close to shopping and restaurants. Beautiful view of the mountains and waterfalls in winter months.
