We stayed in the Maswik Lodge cabins which were rustic, but equipped with two queen sized beds, a shower, telephone and a colour television. While staying there, we saw deer walking around the lodges... it was quaint and quite a nice place to stay, if you don''t mind bugs.
That was the only negative thing about the rooms. The bed had little bugs that squished and looked like drops of blood in the morning. Neither of us staying in the room had any idea what was going on until I woke early one morning (while Robyn was going to see the sunrise), and I noticed something crawling on the bed. It was a little red bug! Eww! I fixed that by using Aeroguard on my bed to keep the little pests at bay. :p
But, then, we were in a National Park with trees and everything all around, and animals wandering by the lodges. I guess bugs weren''t too big a problem - everything else was quite up to scratch, and it was great being inside the park itself, right at the Canyon!
Maswik Lodge features a cafeteria that is open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Here you will also find a sports bar with a wide screen TV, a curio shop stocked with handicrafts and gifts, and a transportation/activities desk.
