Club Velas Vallarta

We had a one-bedroom unit, and it was great. We had a balcony with sliding doors off our bedroom and also off the living area. We had a kitchen in our unit with microwave, stove, fridge, toaster oven. It had it all. We had a full bathroom that was cleaned daily. Air conditioning throughout the entire unit. Thank god!! I would have died without it!

Best Things Nearby:
Downtown Puerto Vallarta, the Marina and related boat trips, golf

Best Things About the Resort:
The people working here are friendly and helpful without exception. The units are spacious and reasonably appointed. The pools are large and nice--in particular, children love them. It is also right on the beach. It was very easy to get a taxi immediately.

Resort Experience:
We were impressed by this resort from the minute we arrived. The lobby has interesting architecture and a water feature it it. Were were tired when we arrived, so it was even better to find a very friendly and helpful person at check-in--along with a free drink without us even requesting it.

We were also impressed with the room. It was spacious and the balcony was large with a great view. The room was not carpeted--it had a marble-type floor instead. I personally liked it--and the lack of carpet was very understandable given the number of times we came into the room either wet or wet and sandy from the pools and beach at the resort. The room was equiped with a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and TVs in each room; the beds were reasonably comfortable, etc.

The resort has three pools, all of which were nice. I enjoyed the pools with my children who loved the pools, especially my six year old. They (and I!) also really got a kick out of the pool bar, but the service could have been a bit quicker.

The beach at the resort was also reasonably nice. I should say that I am not a lay out at the beach type of person, so I don't know what, if anything, it means that virtually no one was laying out at the beach. (I think those that layed out did so at the pools.) We did swim in the ocean; my kids were surprised the water was as warm as it was.

At this resort, the doormen were quick to get taxis which were lined up waiting for a fair. We had no difficulty getting taxis to go downdown, to the marina, or to any other point.

The resort also has two restaurants, La Ribera and Andrea, both of which I have reviewed separately. They are good restaurants.

The all-inclusive package also included two tours that we took advantage of--a cultural tour and a city tour. These tours were OK. The City tour primarily went to places downtown that we had already found by taking a taxi. However, it was interesting having the tour guide's further explanations. The Cultural tour primarily involved a stop at a tequila factory and a stop at a restaurant south of Puerto Vallarta. This tour's main advantages were the tequila and the drive south of the city--it was beautiful down there.

All five of us agreed that this is a resort we would come back to.

Best Things Nearby:
The beach!!! The marina is close by and the resort is basically located within a couple minutes away from downtown , where you can find from nice restaurants up to shop with unique Mexican art pieces, alleys and the lovely ocean walk, of course there`s many things to explore in the area!

Best Things About the Resort:
There`s many things that are great about the place. To begin with you will find two swimming pools -- one of them has a swim-up bar , two restaurants(La Ribera & Andreas), grocery store, exercise equipment, spa, basically all you will need for a perfect vacation.

Resort Experience:
The resort has all the units with partial view to the sea sand the swimming pool areas surrounded by many green areas with palm trees and a little river that connects one swimming pool with the other.

The unit we stayed on was a one-bedroom that sleeps four, with privacy for four; this consisted of a king-sized bed on the room and sleeper sofa on the living room ( he most comfortable I`ve ever tried), it had the partial kitchen that I wouldn`t use since the resort goes on the all-inclusive program and only if you feel like cooking there`s food and drinks available (beer, soft drinks, cereal, milk, juice), though, why cook if the all-inclusive plan has room service?????

The restaurants at the resort are just great, I had the opportunity to have the dinner of the Italian gourmet (Andreas). There`s nothing I can complain of, the food is excellent and so the service (you have to make a reservation).

At La Ribera restaurant I had the Argentinean night that had the best beef cuts and wine available (of course the salads are great too!!!). The restaurant overlooks the ocean, so it is even better if you find a table facing the ocean.

Where I had the greatest time was on the Mexican Fiesta, they offered a buffet dinner and a lot of little things that just make it perfect night, as for example the mariachi (Mexican folk music) plays for about an hour, after that a little tequila contest was going on (too bad I couldn`t participate), then the Mexican Folk Dancers come out giving you a overview of Mexico`s dances, girls in fancy costumes, of course they do the Mexico hat dance. Upon arrival to the Mexican fiesta you get a ticket to a raffle where you can get nice prizes.

I first thought that going all inclusive was probably not a good idea since I do not eat or drink a lot, but is not only that, is about feeling relaxed the great service, poolside activities, great meals and someone to help you anytime you need !!!! This will make your vacation just perfect, I’m not afraid to recommend this resort since I’ve been there and I had such a good time!!!

The beach and port to go on day cruises. We were kind of limited because we had a toddler with us.

Best Things About the Resort:
Very beautifully landscaped. The pools and beach were very nice.

Resort Experience:
We had a one-bedroom suite. The rooms were nice and clean. However, there are no carpets, so our toddler's knees were so bruised up from falling that it was sad to look at them. The view from the balcony was great.

The resort is very beautiful. The pools are great. The food is okay. We chose the all-inclusive option. The time-share tour reps were not great. Tip: do not do the tour because it’s not worth the gifts.

Best Things Nearby:
There was a shopping mall with a bank, grocery store, clothing, etc. to pick up those forgotten items or to exchange money. The marina is a few blocks away, but within walking distance and with great shopping and excellent restaurants.

Best Things About the Resort:
The best thing about the resort was the service. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Andreas had excellent food, fantastic service, and a casual atmosphere. The resort was so clean, the mature gardens were beautiful, and the accommodations were spacious.

Resort Experience:
When you check in, the first thing you'll notice is the wonderful architecture of the lobby. A staff member will walk you to your room, give you advice, and point out different areas of the resort. As you walk to your unit, the mature garden walkways will overwhelm you with their beauty. The resort is much larger than it looks, but you have easy access to everything. Several elevators at various entrances/exits get you back and forth to your floor without delay.

La Ribera restaurant overlooking the beach was a perfect spot for your morning coffee and breakfast. It's buffet style, but you can get fried eggs and omelets any style made fresh. Andreas is great for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For dinne, you have to make reservations (6-10:30pm). It's casual dress with a different theme menu each night. The food was wonderful!!! For nightlife, the resort has a live band and each night there is a different theme. During the day, they will promote a bar downtown where you are given discounts or special promotions.

The three connecting pools are beautifully arranged. The top pool has a waterfalls and a kiddie slide; that I did try and it's fun for adults too! The second pool has the tiki bar, so you can keep cool and still enjoy those tropical drinks. During the day, you can even order lunch. And the third pool has the volleyball net and is a little shallower for those interested in water sports and water aerobics.

In your unit, you will find either a full or partial kitchen. The fridge was stocked daily with beer, pop, milk, juice, water, yogurt, bread, and butter. They also give you cereal, coffee, tea, and sugar. If you run out, you can call room service and get it restocked. The room service has a set menu depending on the time of day. We ordered room service and not only did the food arrive quickly, but it was hot and very good. Again, the staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. If there is anything you need assistance with or advice on, they are more than happy to help. As for the all-inclusive fee, it is very reasonable. Off-site from the resort, we found that water and pop were around $4-5 a bottle; alcoholic drinks ran around $4-6 a drink. I highly recommend this resort.
