Grand Velas Vallarta - All Inclusive

Grand Velas Vallarta - All Inclusive

Best Things Nearby:
The city was great. You could take a taxi into town that was only five dollars and spend all day going through the shops and the marina. They have a boardwalk there along the ocean in town where all the local artists show their work for sale. It was very charming and safe.

Best Things About the Resort:
This resort was amazing because of the service. They treat you like you just stepped off of the red carpet. I ordered room service, and exactly 25 minutes after it was delivered, they knocked on the door to take the dishes away without me having to ask them. It was an amazing feeling to be served like that when I am used to a normal timeshare experience, where I do EVERYTHING. They even had a laundry service that was included, which was great for our beach towels and bathing suites. The food was excellent, as well, because it wasn't the regular all-inclusive buffet.

Resort Experience:
The resort is so beautiful, and the gardens are very well-manicured. The staff is definitely hand-picked because the people are amazing. I would recommend every RCI member go there just to experience an all-inclusive like that.

Best Things About the Resort:
The resort is beautifully landscaped.

Resort Experience:
The resort said that our free ATV excursion only included one for two people. So we said okay. When we got there a pillow was placed behind my husband so that I could sit down behind him on the ATV. While riding we discovered a big sticker on the left side of the vehicle stating that the ATV was not designed for two people. So I highly recommend insisting on two ATVs if you choose that excursion for sitting through their timeshare presentation.

During the ATV ride we splashed through some water. The water made contact with the engine, which created steam and gave my husband a second-degree burn on his left leg. When we got back to the resort, we asked for first aid. We were told that they would send someone to our room. Someone came. But he had no idea what was in his first aid kit. He pulled out a tube that was almost empty. But he had no idea what it was. He obviously had no idea what he was doing. So we asked him if the store near the lobby had any first aid supplies. He said "yes." So I went down to the store to purchase some first aid. They did not have any first aid. A five-star resort should have someone trained in first aid or at least sell it so we could treat ourselves.

After our ATV ride, we were filthy and in need of a shower. My husband needed to clean up his burn on his leg. When we got back to our room at 2pm, the room had not been cleaned. We left about 8am that morning. We left the "Please Clean Room" sign on the door. Since our room was not cleaned, we did not have clean washcloths for the second day in a row. I saw a maid a couple of doors down. So I went over to her and asked for some towels. We took our showers and then went to sit by the pool and have lunch. Since the maid was only a couple of doors down the hall, we figured she would be cleaning our room soon. A couple of hours later we went back and the room still was not clean. I walked around to find a maid and she contacted the maid for our room.

We could not get a good night's sleep. The sheets felt crispy as though they were starched or something. The bed was hard. The food is not five-star quality. Compared to other all-inclusive places we have gone to, the daily entertainment was not very good. One day while at the pool the DJ was playing music with lyrics that were not appropriate for young children. We noticed a lot of people looking at each other in amazement while the song was being played. The all-inclusive rate we paid was way too much money for the service we received in return ($125 per person per day.)

Marina and golf course

Best Things About the Resort:
Large pool area, Mexican ambience, and cool breezes from Bay of Banderas

Resort Experience:
Club Velas Vallarta captures the heart of anyone who enjoys the sun, beach, and Mexican ambience. The resort's architectural design is thoroughly Mexican, with stucco and red tiled roof. The garden and pool area is a beautiful tropical oasis with an occasional peacock roaming the grounds. The service and accommodations are always top-notch. We will usually start our day at the resort's restaurant located right on the beach. The always attentive waiter brings us a basket of fresh pastries and coffee while enjoying the gental tropical breezes of the open air deck, sweeping views of the beach and the gentle sound of the surf lapping upon the beach. What a great way to start the day with a truly memorable experience. Our stay at Velas Vallarta always ends much too soon!

Best Things Nearby:
Once again, if you are in Puerto Vallarta, everything is very close, and a $3 cab ride will get you everywhere. Good restaurants in walking distance, along with some decent shopping.

Best Things About the Resort:
Now this was our favorite resort, and if you read about the Grand Velas All Suites, you are probably surprised! But this Velas, the original Velas, and sister to the Grand Velas, was where it was at! Much larger and more pools, plus a great swim-up bar! But there were more 20-somethings and 30-somethings, and overall, it just had a more laid-back party atmosphere! I was there to party and have fun, so this was more my speed! Now, it wasn't crazy, but I could see the potential!

Resort Experience:
Beautiful landscaping, great big pools, and the rooms were awesome! Very nice, with a great tile and hardwood balcony! Plus, I was on the eighth floor, so I had a nice view! All-inclusive is less here, but the food was still incredible. Once again, the all-inclusive was a great deal for me!
