Dining was very good with a nightly outdoor buffet with different themes. Also an upscale dining room in separate building near waterfront. Grounds and pools were beautiful and well kept. Poolside bar, restaurants, and recreation directors staffed daily.

The resort itself is beautiful and the pools are spectacular. The new beach cabanas are very nice, as is NIKKIS BEACH CLUB, but be warned that to use their facilities, you must drop at least US$20 on food and drink per person. This is not our favorite PV resort, but it's in the top three.

Nice relaxing place to catch your breath before you go out to the wild to do extreme stuff again. But remember it''s quite rustic! No hot water, no entertainment, no internet, nothing. It''s you and the cows out there.

The beach wasn't the greatest, although we did try some snorkeling right off it, and saw quite a few happy fish. The best thing is the beds by the pool were the very comfortable foam mattresses with lots of pillows in teak pagodas with white curtains, very nice-looking.
The resort had an 'activities' director; however, most of the activities either didn't occur or started late. The best was a rousing game of pool volleyball, which was fun.
Puerto Vallarta's old town is a big party destination with lots of bars and restaurants in a compact area.

We loved the private Jacuzzi hot tubs on the bedroom patios. I had never seen that type before. You fill it when you want to use it. The water temperature and pressure was fabulous!

The property has beautiful palm trees and is maintained well. The pool area is really nice. The pools have meandering shapes with lots of lounge chairs and there are many more chairs on sand, both near the beach and on the beach. There is a beach-volleyball net and a pool-volleyball one. The resort also has a really nice gym, which is included for free if you opt for the $40 maid service of daily bed linen change and towel change.
