Soberanis offers quiet, clean dorm rooms with A/C, showers, and huge bunk beds. They provide a dresser, but bring your own lock. Rates are USD$10-12. It's primarily a hotel, and double rooms with cable TV run $400 MXP. There's an inexpensive restaurant with good food. The lively sidewalk bar is protected from the street by trees and fragrant jasmine vines. I met the staff and chatted with locals. There's a grocery store next door, buses to the beach, and Puerto Juarez around the corner.
Returned to the Soberanis in March. Due to spring break, all the dorm beds were sold out. The high season rate is 525MXP. A bit costly for my budget, but I did stay for 2 nights. Comfortable bed and satellite TV for late night. The breakfast dishes are excellent and they have the best black beans!
