We had a studio for 4 pax next to the penthouse, including a balcony, so you can imagine the ocean view we had during our vacation. It was a studio, but it had all the amenities we needed, and that really helps. My friends couln''t believe the view we had from our room, so they really liked it. The unit had everything - we never had to call the concierge or anything like that because we had everything we wanted.

I had the idea that studios have no kitchen, but we were told that the unit has a "partial kitchen" and we said that was OK. Who needs a kitchen on vacations if you''ll be at the beach the whole day?? And that "partial kitchen" is just incredible!!! It had everything: microwave oven, juice maker, mixer, burners, coffee maker, and a refrigerator full of sodas and beers!!! The bathroom was great too, because it was the same size as the little living room outside with a nice big and clean tub.

If you would like to know a little bit more information about this place, you can send me a message and I''d be glad to help you further.

Best Things Nearby:
Close to downtown -- excellent pool and beach.

Best Things About the Resort:
Reasonably new, well kept, good service, and decent food.

Resort Experience:
Nightly events that seem geared mostly to younger kids. Daily activities in the pool that attract lots of participation. Convenient bar and restaurant, and very nice staff. We'd go there again.

However, the discount prices for activities are not available unless you go through another timeshare sales pitch. That was disappointing since we were there on RCI exchange and had been told the discounts would apply.

Also be aware that you won't get airport limo pickup after about 8pm, regardless of what you may be told.

But overall, the vacation was a big success!

Best Things About the Resort:
Having a shuttle van pick me up at the airport upon arrival--would have left a better taste in my mouth if they'd included the transfer back to the airport instead of telling me I'd have to pay extra--they misinformed me when I phoned them!

The big 1 bedrm.

Getting a burger at midnight on premises, room service, a big tub to relax in bedrm, nice well padded chaise lounges, umbrellas, towels available at poolside, attentive waiters that most often remember what drink you had for refills.

Resort Experience:
My exchanged timeshare, despite the fact that I own 2 bedrm units was very spacious for a 1 bedrm! The partial kitchen was perfect. It would have been nice to have an ocean front view. But it was nice to have a big bed! This one faced the lagoon side overlooking the outdoor theatre & front entrance. If the maid hadn't kept turning my airconditioner up full and the fan off in my absence I would have been happier. I'm sensitive to a/c's so I have to have them on warmer. Remember if you open a sliding balcony door, the a/c will automatically stop; it restarts when you close the door. Once they washed my floor.

It was very pleasant, and VERY spacious for a 1 bedrm! I was on the 4th floor--elevators were on occasion a bit slow (a couple of mins.)

Best Things About the Resort:
nothing

Resort Experience:
The lobby is extremely small and hosts too many different activities. You have to work around the front desk, a bar, a leisure area, a restaurant, and the entry to the pool. There is also an area in the lobby set aside to representatives attempting to sell timeshares.

The room I was initially given was crappy. The tile was cracked and falling off in the bathroom. The tub has rust in it with areas of adhesive exposed where the tile had been. There was a hideous smell of mildew throughout. I was given another room and offered a third, but I could not escape the mildew fumes.

The food was bland and tasteless. Although it was advertised that food would be available from 5am to 1am, it was not. After about 4:30 or 5pm, the restaurants and outdoor grills shut down in preparation for dinner (which stated at 7:30 or 8pm). In the interim, you had no alternatives. The drinks were weak and all tasted alike. I was extremely disappointed considering I had to pay an expensive mandatory all-inclusive fee. I ended up eating and enjoying drinks at other hotels and restaurants.

The tiny pool was always crowded until late evening; usually it cleared out once dinner commenced. The beach was non-existant. Be weary if you choose this resort, the all-inclusive fee differs. Some people pay more that others. The range I got from different guests was $40 per person per day to as much as I paid, $66.50.

Studio room was adequate for sleeping and clean. However, the pull out sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable, and there was no kitchenette as had been requested. Buffet style eating got old and while the main dishes served were adequate, they were the SAME every day and comparable to a standard all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant. The fruits and vegetables, however, were wonderful. Restaurant staff very friendly.

Phone calls $2/min for 800 #'s and $7/min for US business and residence. Spent $76 trying to connect to a US 888 number for a work conference call. In the end, I didn't make my call as the operator couldn't connect me and manager not helpful when asking for $16 credit for the operator misdialing 888 and putting me through to 800.

Pool staff did not regularly bring beverages so we had to go to the bar every time. We found ourselves tipping in order to get service, although tips are supposedly part of the all-inclusive. We felt unwelcome.

Our overall poor experience was made worse because we were given poor advice by hotel personnel when we arrived. Since our RCI reservation at another hotel was unsatisfactory we tried to contact RCI for another reservation. After failed phone attempts, we arrived at Royal Sunset and asked to speak to the RCI rep for the hotel. She told us she could help us and we would just have to contact RCI upon our return to be re-credited our week. She gave the three of us a rate of $85 per person for seven nights. While a HUGE expense considering we'd arrived on timeshare credit, she recommended we contact RCI upon our return home and receive credit for the week. Poor advice since RCI couldn't credit us the week upon our return and the rep at the hotel, acting as RCI spokesperson, took the credit of booking three unsuspecting travelers and making $1785 for the hotel and a $70 tip we provided her for being "helpful" when she booked us.
