When we arrived, we checked in very easily, and got a "free upgrade" to a suite (I think everyone gets "upgraded"). A concierge led us to our room while giving us a quick tour of the property (the gorgeous pool, two restaurants, two bars (one on the beach, one in the lobby), the activities desk). Our room was on the 5th floor, and although we didn''t have much of a view from our balcony, the view just outside the door to our room was really nice.
Our room was really spacious and clean. There were two double beds, a full kitchen (full size fridge, sink, stove, pots and pans to cook with), and a small table with chairs. There was also a small closet that had a safe in it (you get the lock & key when you check in). The safe is pretty small -- we were able to store our 4 wallets, cameras, and jewelry inside, but that was about it. One of our favorite things about our room was the giant shower with a built-in clothesline. Our only complaints about the room was that the bathroom smelled moldy and the doors were very thin (not sound-proof).
During the day, the pool/beach has free use of towels and lounge chairs. The pool also has shallow areas for the lounge chairs. There''s also a watersports center where you can rent paddleboats, kayaks, snorkeling equipment, or take an introductory SCUBA lesson (included in the AI), and motorized watersports are also available for a fee.
At night, there were different activities poolside (shows, pinatas, bands), and a shuttle that would go to different nightclubs (the one night we used this, they were having problems . . . the shuttle didn''t show up, we had to take the bus (the hotel paid)). With AI, you can also get in free to Señor Frog''s and Carlos & Charlie''s. Also, the service at the hotel (and everywhere in Cancun) was just amazing. I can’t say enough about it.
Also on-site is a salon, a kids club, a gym, and a really good gift shop (where you can buy water -- do NOT drink the water out of the tap in your oom).
I do wish the hotel had been closer to the clubs and shopping areas. It would have saved us a lot of cab fare and having to carry purchases around with us. Overall, it was a very nice hotel, it was a great deal, the service was amazing, and I would stay there again if I got a good deal.
