QT
Having stayed in a lot of New York City hotels, my friend Betsy and I have become pretty jaded. So imagine our surprise when we quite accidentally stumbled upon the new QT Hotel on W. 45th St. Many people walking by wonder what it is, due in large part to the fact that the small lobby looks more like the concession stand of a movie theater then a hotel check-in desk. This new hotel, still in the soft-opening phase, was a real treat and a pleasant surprise. The rooms were stylish, with exceedingly comfortable platform beds, a flat-screen TV perfectly positioned for nighttime viewing, and a large bathroom complete with an oversized shower nozzle, providing a gentle but cleansing "rain shower" effect. Better still, there was a truly delicious continental breakfast and a killer pool area conveniently located not only inside, but next to a bar. At night, the bar turned into a trendy hot spot with fantastic drinks and fun people-watching. Finally, the staff seems to be made up of that rarest of breeds: attractive young people who actually provide service with a smile. To put it simply, this is capital THE place to stay in the Times Square area.
