Sad to hear when calling to book a reservation I was told that the property had been leased out 2007?
It will not be the same!! I have been staying there for years.
No more family owned properties left.
They were One Of The First Motels In Williamsburg!!
Great Owners!! They will be missed!!

White Lion Motel

We recently stayed in Williamsburg to celebrate my in-laws' 50th wedding anniversary. While my in-laws reserved a room for us at the Comfort Inn, we needed a place for our grown children (ages 23 and 19) to stay. We are cheapskates, but didn't want a dump so we consulted AAA. AAA rates this motel at two diamonds, but the cost of the rooms was very low.

When we dropped off the kids, my husband was amazed. "Cottages!" he exclaimed. My husband LOVES hotels with cottages, and this one is entirely made up of four room cottages. My kids, in room 9 and 12, were in the same cottage (pics are below). These were comfortable little four room cottages with a porch. The area is very woodsy and green. When we picked up the kids on Sunday morning at 6am, the birds were singing and there was a light mist around the motel.

White Lion is a family run motel that has a pool, ice machine and soda machine, and not much all in the way of amenities. My son noted that there was a very nearby 7-11 which he walked to Saturday evening. The rooms all have comfortable beds, are nicely decorated, and have clean, individual bathrooms. My son was in a room with a king size Bed, my daughter had a queen and a single, and the rooms between them were doubles with two queen size beds.

If you are visiting the historic area of Williamsburg, you will probably need a car from this motel. That area is a couple of miles away, and not all has good sidewalks. That said, it IS walkable for someone who likes to walk a lot.

Pictures of the hotel and grounds are attached.
