All Star Movies Resort

As we pulled up to the All-Star Movies Resort, the Disney "magic" was hitting us! We were exhausted from a long, rough flight, and suddenly we didn't care- you can't help but to be happy while you stay here! The resort is located at the end of a dead end street, making it a little quieter due to less through traffic.

The front lobby had a gorgeous Christmas tree decorated with movie reels and memorabilia. There was a kids area that had Disney movies playing so the kids could wait during check-in. The cast members were extremely friendly, and when they saw my son, they brought him some crayons and Disney coloring pages to keep him entertained while he waited with us.

Check-in was a breeze, and we were happy to hear that all of our requests had been granted. Although Disney states that they cannot guarantee requests, it has been our experience that they will help their guests in any way possible.

Our room was ready early, so we headed to the Toy Story Section. Each section has two buildings facing each other, with a themed courtyard between them. My son was ecstatic to discover Buzz and Woody character over 2 stories high just outside our room! The Toy Story buildings are close to the food court and main lobby/gift shop, but far enough away to be rather quiet, which was a nice surprise.

The rooms were on the small side, but perfect for our party of three. The Toy Story theming was carried out in the bedspreads, posters and border in the room. We had a standard room, which included 2 double beds, a small table and 2 chairs, and 2 small dressers that the tv sat on.

There was a single sink sitting outside of the bathroom with a nicely lit mirror, and a hairdryer. The bathroom itself was decorated in black and white stars, and had a film strip tiled tub.

"Mousekeeping" was fantastic here- they took my sons toys that we left out and arranged them in funny positions for us to find when we got in from the parks each day- one of those small touches that delighted my son!

We didn’t utilize the 2 pools, but we saw many people in them, (even in December!)because they were heated. There is also a nice playground on property, which even my toddler could climb on safely. There are laundry facilities which I did use, but was a little disappointed to find that almost half of the washers and dryers were out of service. It cost $2.00 to wash a load, and $2.00 to dry, but it took 2 times to dry my clothes.

All in all, we loved this resort- the huge Disney character theming is magical for young and old alike. Also, since the All-Star Resorts are considered "value" resorts, the price doesn't break the budget- we stayed during the "value season", and also applied a AAA discount, we only paid $68.00 a night.

Disney Hotels - All-Star Movie Resort

The Disney All-Star Movie Resort, while modest in price and amenities, is perfect for those on a budget. These hotels are made with families in mind - from the pools and the food court, to the arcade and the giant character statues from our favorite movies. This hotel offers everything a family could need during a trip to Disney World - including shuttles to all four Disney theme parks and Downtown Disney.

This isn't the height of luxury, but the rooms are clean and certainly adequate. Each room has the a 24/7 Disney cartoon channel and pizza delivery. They also offer adjoining rooms for those families with more than two children. Because of the "movie" theme the food court was divided into different theaters. Each theater had a different menu selection - meals for mom, dad, and even those picky 4-year-olds. The full-size pool was great, and off to the side, there was a small kiddie pool where my little ones could splash.

If you are looking to lounge in the lap of luxury, perhaps this is not the hotel for you. But if you need a nice, family-oriented place to put the kids down to bed at night, then this is the place!! I will definitely stay at this hotel again when we return this fall.

All Star Music Resort

If you require a hotel stay during your visit to Disney, I strongly urge you to book a stay with a Disney resort hotel or host property. They are comparable price-wise to regular hotels in the area. But at least here, you don’t have to deal with the hassles of parking and trying to get out of the park. Or if you get tired or hot during the day, you can always come back to your hotel for a bit and return later. They have options for every budget, including a campground.

During our Disney vacation, we had a room at the All-Star Music Resort. All-Star Music is part of the budget resorts that also include the All-Star Sports, All-Star Movies, and Pop Century. With each hotel having close to 2,000 rooms, combined, they boast more rooms than the other hotels combined.

As you might garner by the name, the theme of the hotel is music. The Disney planners made good use of bold colors and oversized musical instruments and notes. A neo-juke box, cowboy boots, and a Broadway marquee are all part of the oversized icons found on the property.

The room its self is adequately sized (260 feet). We had two double beds, a window seat, a chair and table, and a desk. The bathroom was a nice size, with double sink vanity and plenty of Mickey soaps, shampoo, and conditioner. Everything was very clean and well-taken-care-of. There is cable TV and, of course, the Disney Channel.

There are two pools on the property, a restaurant, gift shop, playground, and video arcade. They also have pizza delivery to the rooms. They also have luggage service. If you arrive early, you can check in and get to the park, and when you return, your luggage will be in your room. They also offer store delivery. Some of the larger stores in the park will deliver your purchases to your room.

The best part of all is transportation. Buses go from here to the parks and run about every 10 minutes. While we were here, we hardly had to wait, while I heard guests in the Polynesian Resort complaining of waiting 30 minutes for the monorail and then having to transfer at the bus station. Also, if you want a change of pace from Disney, buses run from here going to SeaWorld and Universal. Just go to www.waltdisneyworld.com for more info.

I loved the All-Star Movies Resort. For a low-priced value resort, nothing can compare to the way Disney does things. Even as a Value resort, they top all other resorts. You are right on Disney property, with free bus service everywhere, and the staff is so kind. The only thing is to make sure there are no cheerleading conventions before you go, as the cheerleaders take over.

The rooms are great - the beds are comfy, and the maids are so friendly and nice. I would definitely go again!

Basic - bed, toilet, bath with overhead shower, TV, basin. No cupboards, only a clothes rail with no door. Advantage of staying on-site at Disney and all transport to the parks is provided.
