Club Regina Los Cabos at Westin

Best Things Nearby:
San Jose del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean

Best Things About the Resort:
It's view of the Sea of Cortez, the beautiful pools, and the wonderful staff.

Resort Experience:
Club Regina Los Cabos is the jewel in Club Regina’s crown. This resort has won multiple awards for its architecture and design, deservedly so. It is spectacular. It is an oceanfront property where every condo and hotel unit has a 180° view of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. Built into the side of a cliff, the condo units stairs step down the side of the cliff to the ocean. The hotel is run by Westin, and it is a lovely property. People staying in the Club Regina condos have access to all of the pools, restaurants, and services at the Westin.

Five of us stayed in a two  bedroom, three bath unit, and were very comfortable. There is a partial kitchen that was sufficient for fixing breakfasts and lunches. We ate all dinners out. There is a dining table that seats six. The living room has a queen sleeper sofa. Off the living room is a balcony with a table and two chairs, and a seat for three built into the balcony wall. The units are decorated in typical Mexican style. Bright colors, and natural stone and tile are present throughout the units. The bathrooms have a spa-like feel to them. They are tiled in large, 14-inch squares of travertine, featuring a large walk-in shower with bench, frosted glass block window, and his and hers sinks. Hairdryers are provided, so no need to pack one. Both bedrooms have a Jacuzzi tub recessed into the floor, located next to the window looking out over the ocean. Our view was fantastic, but I don’t think there are any units that have bad views. It was wonderful to get my cup of coffee in the morning, totter out to the balcony, and watch the ocean wake up. From the very first day, I could feel the stresses and cares of my everyday life melting away into complete relaxation.

Getting around at Club Regina can be a bit challenging, especially for older people. My father has a heart condition, and walking up the ramps and stairs were difficult for him. Fortunately there are guys in golf carts to shuttle you from the beach and pools back to your room, or up to the lobby. If you enjoy exercise then this is a great resort for you.

The staff at Club Regina are fantastic. There is a maid service every day. They make the beds, provide fresh towels if needed, and even run the dishwasher for you. Make sure you leave the maids a small tip daily. They work really hard. The front desk staff is well informed, and they do everything they can to make your stay at Los Cabos a memorable one. We got some great tips on local restaurants from the golf cart guys.

Club Regina is far and away one of the nicest RCI properties I have stayed at. I can’t wait to go back.

Westin Club Regina

The Westin Club Regina Resort is in the tourist Corridor area of Cabo San Lucas. It is built on the cliffs directly on the Sea of Cortez. There are two sections of the resort, the hotel area and the timeshare area. We stayed in the timeshare area in a very nice, very large one-bedroom condo. We were very impressed with the large room we were ushered into by the bell boy. There was a king-size bed that was at least 7 square feet, a bathroom with a shower that was 3 1/2 feet by 6 feet, a large closet, and a raised sitting area. Floor-to-ceiling windows along one whole wall gave a fantastic view of the Sea of Cortez. In front of the windows was a 5-foot square sunken whirlpool tub. Imagine our amazement when he asked if we wanted to see the other half of our suite. This contained a full kitchen, with an eating area, another full bathroom, a living area, and a balcony overlooking the Sea of Cortez.

Best Things Nearby:
Wonderful resorts, spa, golfing and sport fishing. Gastronomical 4-star restaurants. Fun or relaxation? What do you prefer?

Best Things About the Resort:
Service by the resort, architecture of the hotel, and flavor of the design. Outstanding.

Resort Experience:
To drive into the resort, it does not look like anything special... that is, until you get right up to the lobby of the Westin. When you arrive, it takes your breath away--so surreal, unbelievably beautiful, and breathtaking. Pictures do not do it justice. Even though we have traveled to many places in the world, we have come to love this part of the world the best. Some of the best resorts and spas are here, and it is the perfect place to relax and unwind. If you can't slow down here, then you can't slow down anywhere. The beauty of the desert, with the cactus meeting the ocean, is spectacular. If you go when the whales are migrating, then be ready for a spectacular show. You will want to return year after year after year.

Best Things Nearby:
There is a Jack Nicholas-designed golf course next to the property, but I didn't golf, as this was a dive trip.

Best Things About the Resort:
The architecture of all the Club Regina properties is a spectacular sight to see. The color schemes are a delight to the eye. All rooms have ocean views and balconies. The pools are the infinity type, with a view towards the ocean. A great place to relax and stay cool. The poolside lounges and umbrellas are plentiful and excellent quality.

Resort Experience:
The property is in the hotel corridor, 10 minutes from San Jose del Cabo (SJC) and 20 minutes from Cabo San Lucas (CSL). The timeshares all have ocean views and are very spacious and nicely decorated. They give you a feel of being at a vacation home of your own in an exotic location.

The surf can be quite strong at the beach, and swimming is not recommended, but we got lucky and had a very gentle surf most of the week and were able to swim and snorkel often.

There were many planned events to take part in, like a Mexican Fiesta with folkloric dancing and costumes from different areas of Mexico. A great selection of authentic Mexican cuisine is served. There is also a seafood night with lobster and so much great seafood to eat. If you like raw oysters, lobster, and seafood in general, don't miss this event.

SJC is a quiet little town with many shops to buy arts and crafts. CSL is a much busier place, with many bars and clubs (didn't go to Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo -- maybe next time). There are many beaches and bays to explore and see. The best way to get around is to rent a car, as the Regina is in a fairly secluded area, the way I like it.

Best Things Nearby:
There really is nothing nearby. Even the road leading to town is about a one-mile walk. But it doesn't matter because the resort is so magnificent, you don't need anything nearby.

Best Things About the Resort:
This resort can take your breath away, it is so lovely. The timeshares are colorful villas on the cliff overlooking the ocean. In addition, you can use all the amenities of the Westin Hotel. There are seven pools. We liked the one that was closest to the villas because it was adults only and quiet. Our daughter and her friend stayed at the main pool by the hotel, because it had lots of action. There is something for everyone.

Resort Experience:
We enjoyed the pool and beach. All the units face the ocean, and the sand, surf and rocks make a beautiful scene to wake up to each morning.

There are numerous activites at the resort, which is good because it is very difficult to get into town. Taxis are available, but they are quite expensive. You can also take the city bus, but the bus stop is about a mile from the villas. The Westin has an internal shuttle because it is so large. We would take the shuttle to the hotel end of the resort and then walk to the road. This cut about a 1/3 of a mile off the journey to the bus stop.

This is probably one of the most beautiful resorts we have ever stayed in. I would definitely return. The only drawback to it is its seclusion. This can be a good thing if that is what you are looking for, but we like to explore and try out different restaurants. And if you want to go deep-sea fishing or whale watching, you will need to get to Cabo San Lucas, because that is where the boats leave from. A taxi to Cabo is about $25 each way. As a result, we spent more time and money at the Westin than we might have otherwise.
