The Custom Hotel is a fun and quirky LA hotel in the spirit of The Standard and Hard Rock Hotels. It is aiming for a young, hip, and fun traveler. I saw the other reviews here on Travelocity and thought I would even the playing field a little bit by sharing my experience. The bed sits in the middle of the room, the headboard doubles as a console table and stowed underneath is a rolling red cushioned bench for, uh...sitting on. The rain shower is wonderful. The entry way has a lit hutch that almost resembles a built-in bar. The bed is incredibly comfortable and if you are able to sleep in, it's a great place to do it. There's a club next to the pool and a DJ spins beats most nights of the week. Hotel guests are automatically granted free access to all of the parties and you can bill your drinks to your room. Yes, the valet situation is ridiculous and expensive. However, if you investigate, you can by-pass it. There is neighborhood parking less than five minutes away.No valet, no problem. This is a situation that Custom Hotel might want to address. People don't like surprise charges and with the economy the way it is, the young people Custom wants to attract are rightfully a little pissed to not be told up front about the valet deal. The room has free wi-fi and a stereo with an iPod dock. The cool flat screen TV is built into a strange place that runs parallel to the bed instead of in front of it. A little illogical but, no big shakes. We weren't there to watch TV.

This hotel is a joke. They take your money left and right. Best thing about the place is their beds. Prob the best bed I've slept in for a hotel. Other than that nothing exciting. They have valet parking that you must take. And when you leave they inform you it's $22 bones a day for you car. If my girlfriend and I knew that we would of parked 5 blocks away and walked to our room. The vending machines were full of useless stuff. From blow up dolls to green toilet paper. They acted like it was the hippest hotel in all of California. And it's right next to the airport and oil processing plant. They have their own club across the walk way of the entrance and the music is non-stop and annoying. It blairs all night. I would not stay there again even if they paid me. The staff was not helpful or nice either. Place is weird, next time I'll just stay at a holiday inn.
