Nice Hotel

This was recommeded by a friend. I liked the people, the room and the rate. I didn't like that they kept the $20/day parking fee a secret. I liked it even less, when the parking guy held out his hand for a tip, beyond the fee! Breakfast was good, though...................I'll stay here, again, but find someplace to park.

Funky, over-styled experience - Important Information for your stay

The Custom is a fun, funky hotel - definately styled for Euro-Hipsters (most of the guests I met were from foreign countries). They also seem to have events there all the time. There was a film festival and a movie shoot during my stay - saw Tori Spelling in the lobby. It's dark in the inner halls with gray walls and black industrial carpet - if you want cheerful and bright, go elsewhere. I really enjoyed my stay - the staff was friendly and helpful. There is also a grocery store and several restaurants within walking distance. The only negative surprise for me was a $22 a day fee for parking. They have no public lot - and the lot for the grocery store next door has 2 hour parking only. There is nearby street parking, but if you are concerned about your rental car like I was, you just get stuck paying. I got a really good deal on my stay, so it wasn't too bad - but this info should definately be in the listing. I would definately stay there again though, if I got that deal again.

Stay was great

I was very pleased with my stay at Custom Hotel, even though I was gone alot. My first initial reaction was the lighting being to dark, but further research, I realized they were giving an ambiance vibe like SOHO (New York). I arrived early to check in and they allowed my to do so without charge, also was able to stay until 2:00 on my check out day. The room is self was clean and modern, the hot water stayed hot and had a view of the airport. The hotel was convenient to public transportation, in which I used often. I opted to not have a car, which was good because the parking would have been expensive, I believe $22.00 a night. The Bistroek dining was good you received complimentary breakfast or and $8.00 credit towards bill and the French Toast was good. I didn't have much interaction with the staff, again I was gone often, but my encounters were pleasant. This was the first time ever being on the West Coast and the choice I made staying at Custom Hotel turned out to be a good one. One request I was say is to equip the rooms with microwaves or have a common area to heat your food. The area in which the hotel was in, is quiet and I would come in late and found it to be safe. I intend to travel to LA soon and would stay at Custom's again and would recommend to others if they choose to stay.

i can't say anything nice about the place really. at first glance it looks great very modern and interesting. you glance longer and see that this very new hotel is decorated so cheaply that it makes it look run down already! chipped and scuffed. very shoddy! the service we received was absolutely awful. we were in l.a. during the heat wave last week with temps over 100 and our room had no working a/c. we started a trauma with the front desk at 9am about it that i just don't have the patience to relive. let us just say it ended in them offering to move our room sometime after MIDNIGHT and saying to me in response to my frustration "oh, it is to bad you didn't use our valet service or we would comp it for you" ( valet is $22 a night and there was plenty of street parking across the street). we actually had the 4th or 5th person we talk to about the a/c problem say she would look into a room change and get back to us in a half hour after she made sure the a/c was working in a new room. only to find out that what really happened in a half hour was her shift ended and she would be gone so she wouldn't have to deal with it. i wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. just for record i am not a 5 star hotel kind of girl so i wasn't having out of the world expectations. the next leg of our trip was in sad diego and we stayed in the howard johnson in encinitas. it was fantastic! clean and friendly with kick butt a/c. oh there was free breakfast so if you stay there for some reason be sure to ask for your coupon. and remember that the "free wi-fi" does not work in the rooms.

Nice Stay for over night

The hotel was plain and simple. It was clean and nice for the price. The shuttle was right on time they said about 15 minutes and it was about 15 minutes. The only thing the shuttle starts at around 7:30 AM. If you have an early flight you have to take a taxi for about $ 15.00 with tip, and call the front desk about an hour early so that they could call the cab. Across the street from the hotel are a few restaurants. The one at the hotel is for hamburgers and fast bar food. I think I would stay there again.
