A Nice Choice

Best Western hotels can never be described as charming. Perfectly acceptable would be far more accurate. Our room was small and dark, but quiet and clean. The bathroom was small (to be expected) but in good condition.
The hotel is on a quiet street on top of the West Cliff (it is about a 10 minute downtown.... down hill going and steeply uphill coming back). The beach is closer (one of the very few in England with sand), but requires a steep set of stairs.
Our room rate included breakfast, which was quite nice (Juice, cereal, cake, fruit and a selection of hot foods). We never left feeling hungry
Surprisingly for a hotel of this category, there was a gym and pool.. It was nice to be able to work-out and then go for a long swim.
If you don't have high expectations, this hotel will work well for you.
Terrible Customer Service

Over our short stay, we experienced long waits for any type of service in the bar and restaurant, dirty crockery, cold drinks (ie cold coffee) and late opening of hotel facilities. Our experience was further compromised by a small bedroom, a dingy bathroom and room service that seemed intent on cleaning the room when it was most convenient to them, rather than the guest. At no time, did any of the staff ever apologise for the shortcomings in their service.
