My first Jamaica Vacation was GREAT

I had a very nice time at the Samsara. I think it is a great value for the money. Compare the cost of other hotels. The towels are pretty worn out so next time I will bring my own. Same for the irons. So I will make sure I bring clothing that does not need to be ironed. I did not take the all inclusive and had a great time eatting at the various resturants up and down the road out side of the hotel. The local are very friendly and I found my way around just fine and felt very safe and respected everywhere I went. There is a grocery store near buy where you can buy ice and drinks to keep your trip on budget. I am already checking my calendar to see when I can come back and Samsara has the best rates hands down. The pool was fine, no rats or ants and only one lizard ran under my door a few times. The musquitoes bite me at home too so Oh well.

Great room for the money. Just bring your own towels if you stay here. Also there are no irons in the rooms and the ones they loan you are not that good. Otherwise check out the resturants in walking distance up and down the road. The food is very good and less expensive than in the hotel. Better value than the all inclusive meals.

we, me and my two teenage sons, were postively surprised when checking in. Some of the reviews re this hotel is very negative and we could not understand that. This place is really beautiful and looks like the pix, we had a large ocean front room with ac and very large balcony. Maybe the garden rooms in the back are not so nice, We had an all inclusive and thought the food was excellent for the price, jerk chicken, fish, rice&peas etc. Samsara is a quiet place and very relaxing with the comfortable sun beds etc. If you want action stay at the Legends on the beach. We went to legends after breakfast to enjoy the beach. Ricks cafe is close to Samsara and cost around USD5 for a cabride there. I think that the complains written about this resort must be written with very inexperienced travellers that expect everything to be like home. If you would like to stay in a luxury hotel of that kind that looks the same in every country you visit - dont stay here. There are hotels like Riu, Hedonism etc located far from the authentic Negril.

Dream Hotel for Certain Travelers

Our 5 days at Samsara were a very ?Jamaican? experience as opposed to the big resorts and chains, in a beautiful, peaceful, setting. Don?t go to this hotel if you?re looking for an American-style vacation or a luxury all-inclusive holiday. It?s a quiet, cliff-side hotel in a breath-taking setting. The location was convenient and allowed us to walk to local attractions, stores and restaurants. The daily free shuttle to the sister hotel on the beach was always on time and a good ?plus?. We stayed in the ?superior? room with AC and ocean view. The AC worked well, but we couldn?t see the ocean from our balcony. The room was clean and simple. We chose the all-inclusive plan and have mixed feelings about it. The food was satisfactory, but definitely not gourmet. There was a continental flare to most meals, besides a few decent Jamaican-themed dinners. The plan includes three meals at set times, no snacks, and cocktails that weren?t that great. We were disappointed that there was no live music, as promised, on the Jamaican-themed nights. Samsara Hotel has way more to offer than the food and drink of the all-inclusive plan: jumping from the cliffs, and watching the sunsets were equally or more important for us. The customer service was to be expected in an inexpensive hotel. It was fine ? you get what you pay for. The information provided at the front desk wasn't always helpful or reliable, but the staff was agreeable in general. We would recommend taking a taxi from the airport ? we booked the Jamaica Tour shuttle and had to wait at the airport for other passengers, and were picked up VERY early at our hotel on the day of our departure. The taxis are slightly more expensive but less touristy and quicker.

At first glance this hotel is quite nice. each room has its own entrance from outside, and is very colorfull. The landscaping is amazing aswell. Once yor are in the room that is a different story.... The furniture is quite old, but i can work with that. One night I was wraping myself up in the covers. when i woke up the covers had come off of the mattress. The mattress was disgusting!!! it was once white but is now multiple shades of choclate brown!!! it looked as if mud (i hope) had been smeared all over it. needless to say, i was afraid to sleep on that bed for the rest or my stay. I bought 2 beech towels, slept ontop of one and covered myself with the other. So, if you dont mind filth...have fun.
