Check in confusion

Beware check in time is "between" 4 and 5:30. Our rooms were not ready until close to 5:30 - very unusual given check out time is 11 am - so 17 1/2 hours for * per night!!! And the front desk personnel are rude. The rest of the stay since we didn't have to deal with them was pleasant. I would not stay here if it was not for the shuttle to Hershey Park, which is very convenient.
Up scale Fleabag Lodge

If you want to spend $$$to sleep in a glorified econolodge, stay here. Our room had a stench, the water wouldn't go down in the tub, the toilet flushed for 5 minutes, the drain in the tub was dislodged, our bed flopped from side to side and the phone on the night stand didn't work. The corridors were dirty and dingy, unless you stay in the new building (where all the photo's are taken) YOU WILL BE DISAPOINTED! Unruly children running the halls all night on a candy buzz and drunk patrons with their "chocotinis" are the norm after 9:00pm. The only good thing I have to say about this up-scale fleabag lodge was the staff and the "Bears den" resturant.

We had a wonderful time. The kids enjoyed the stay, from the chocolate given at check-in to the chocolate scented soap and large pool. They call it "the chocolate hotel". The hotel itself is a bit of a maze, but after awhile we figured it out. We stayed on a Thursday, so crowds were minimal. We had the pool to ourselves Thursday night, and Friday morning it wasn't crowded. The Bear's Den had excellent food. We loved the chocolate ketchup and the turkey crescent sandwiches. My husband thought the hotel room was just like any other hotel room, even though this was more expensive. It was clean, though, and the beds were comfortable. I enjoyed the Hershey's Hot Chocolate that was provided, along with the usual coffee. Really, you are paying for the wonderful extras (large pool, kiddie pool, shuffleboard, miniature golf, large fireplace in lobby, etc). You have to decide for your family or trip if this is worth it. For us, it definitely was. We had a blast. My only wish is that check-out could be a little later so we could have enjoyed these activities a little longer (it is 11:00 a.m.). But, of course, there was plenty to do in the rest of Hershey.

I was there for business function and the meeting rooms and facitlites are wonderful. However, it is too far to the rooms and it is very noisy. I don't think it is worth the money that my company paid for all of us to stay there. I expected much more. The lobbies are very pretty and open and the decor in the lobbies are great. The rooms leave alot to be desired!
crowds at the hershey lodge

The lodge is massive in size. It's great for young children as they can run around freely hoping they don't get lost. The outdoor pool adjacent to the indoor pool is nice, could be larger considering the amount of guest the hotel accomodates. The second outdoor pool is also small in size and geared towards small children. The rooms are basic hallways can be noisy with children screaming and dirty. The restaurants are overpriced and below average to average food. This hotel is basically for kids only.
