DO NOT STAY HERE

My frist trip to the bahamas was very dissapointing. Lets start with saytng this is a very old hotel , needs a lot of work, food is INCREDIBLY overpriced., you are talking $5 dollars for a can of orange juice. There was a leak in the ceiling of pur room, water all over the carpet,. maid service was not done on 2 days, and there wasnt water in the hotel on the last night we stayed.. Staff was very nast y and always had an attitude. Beach was OK, the Sheraton has a lot more beach. Restaurants, lets just say you will get better food at your local restaurants near your home, not impressed at all. And the worst part of this place was the CASINO, I warn you, DO NOT GAMBLE in this place, they are ridiculous , they change the rules on the tables all of sudden, and if if a table is doing good, they will close it on you , lost a lot of money, hopefully with this donation I made, they can improve the facilities a ilittle. I would not reccomend this hotel at all, go to some other place in the Bahamas, Atlantis, or somewhere else in the CAribbean, ex: Punta Cana,.

Rooms were excellent, amenities were limited

It is important to note we stayed in December which although still sunny is not their peak season. Pros: The rooms were large, clean, modern and the ones we had had amazing vievs of the ocean, beach and pool. The pool is very nice and is heated during this time. The beach is clean and well maintained. Food at the hotel is average and expenisve. Trylocal Fish Fry it is excellent. The best value is at the Haynes Oval Cricket Club. Hotel staff generally are courteous and friendly. Robinson Crusoe trip is fun and excellent value. Cons: From the moment you arrive you are hassled by Royal Line who seem to be affiliated with the hotel to listen to their advertising which they claim is not Timeshare, it is! The hotel amenities are tired, old and in deperate need of repair. The hotel is undergoing some renovation. Several of the restaurants rarely open, closed without notice by the hotel management, very annoying. Asian (good), Steakhouse (expensive), Deli (poor), Seadide Buffet (expensive), Flemingo (closed), cafe (ok), Starbucks. There are more restaurants at the adjacent Sheraton. We did not trythem so cannot comment. Travel is a problem. Local buses to Nassau are frequent, cheap and reliable. However they stop running at 6pm. Then your only choice is taxi $15-$25 each way. Aabsolutely no evening entertainment for teens/ kids, not even pay-per-view movies. The Rainforest theater was closed. Even for adults it was very limited to: a bar ("20 above"), occassionally had a local band playing, and casino which was faily dead. In summary: if you are a couple looking for a quiet romantic time it is good. Families be prepared to dig deep into your wallets for incidentals. Hotel management who we did not see once are asleep at the wheel.

Not staying here again

Went to Bahamas two days early for company trip which was at atlantis. Thought we would go 2 days early and stay at the half priced Wyndham. This hotel is a joke. Bell service took 15 minutes to bring our bags in from outside, and they then hid them in a corner for us to find after searching. We had to take the bags up to the room because they could not locate anyone. The soda machines were completely sold out on every floor for the 2 days we were there. The resteraunts are really good, accept for the buffet, which is terrible, alothough it claims to be Nassau's best buffet, everything was undercooked, or overcooked. The casino is not worth your tme. There is hardly anyone ever playing in it. And when you do get a full table and start making some money, they close the table down on you. Next time I will spend the extra money for the Atlantis, you should too.

Family Vacation

My husband and I love to stay on Cable Beach when we visit the Bahamas. We are still looking for a good hotel. The Wyndham is not very clean, and the prices of the food have increased significantly since we were last there a couple of years ago. It's much better to eat at restaurants away from the hotels. You save SO much $$. Those restaurants don't add an automatic 15% gratuity to your bill, or charge you $15.00 for a sandwich. Also, the rooms were not very clean, and the staff was not very attentive. One night the hottub was blowing cold water, and the staff didn't bother to fix it or act like they cared. I would try staying at the Sheraton. We there are couple of times, and it's only a few hundred more for a much nicer hotel.

Not a pleasant experience

1st time we went to Bahamas was by cruise, the locals were unfriendly, miserable and non-welcoming. I swore that I would not come back. Gave it a 2nd chance and went there 2 wks ago, one of the front desk clerks was unbelievably rude especially when we were enjoying our stay at this hotel very much due to the friendly staff. My thoughts were slightly changing about the island until I met this girl (I only asked for the hotel bracelet to be placed loosely so that I can take it off when I showered, she put it on so that it didn't stay on at all and gave me a nasty attitude when I laughed jokingly saying "are you kidding" I thought she was joking until I realized she was coldy stared at me. The hotel food was ok, the buffet is not worth it at all. Gratuity is included in EVERYTHING so the service was not that great, they were unfriendly. This 2nd time around, the locals were still miserable, still unfriendly. I always tell people my experience and suggest they do not come back there.
