Quote: As it was my first time in Amsterdam, I think that the Hem Hotel was the best for my vacation. Although it is not so close to the centre, this location allowed me to know more about the city, to discover areas other than the centre and to be... Read the full Hem Hotel Amsterdam review

HEM Amsterdam hotel

  • May 27, 2010
Quote: The front desk people were not organized and not helpful. not only were they very unfriendly, but they were rude. I probably could have found a better hotel for the same money in a location closer to the center of town. The food and soft drinks... Read the full Hem Hotel Amsterdam review

Not Centraal Enough for me, Motel 6-like

  • 3 out of 5 stars A traveler from Travelocity.com
  • February 2, 2010
Quote: The HEM hotel is located somwhat between Centraal station and Schiphol. Sure it's easy to get to but morning connections are commuter strength- meaning full tram cars. Location was about 20 minutes from Dam with street parking (and... Read the full Hem Hotel Amsterdam review

Quote: Just right at the price. Tram is nearby also has some shops nearby the hotel. Snack bar and small restaurant at hotel were decent. I would stay there again if I have another opportunity to go to Amsterdam and they still offer at the same price.

My Stay in Amsterdam

  • 2 out of 5 stars A traveler from Travelocity.com
  • December 1, 2009
Quote: We chose the HEMs because our flight left early the next morning. My husband wanted something clean, but reasonable in price. It was located in a dark, off the road location. Thankful the taxi driver knew of it. It was in a courtyard with... Read the full Hem Hotel Amsterdam review

3-star rooms are...Okay

  • November 27, 2009
Quote: I just returned yesterday from a 4-night stay in the HEM hotel in Amsterdam. I stayed by myself having 'saved' several hundred dollars NOT staying nearer the Centrum. My friends stayed at a Hilton ("no surprises") and at the Tulip... Read the full Hem Hotel Amsterdam review

fair deal for the price

  • November 17, 2009
Quote: My room was in old part of hotel. Old, but clean room. If you just need a place to sleep and shower , it is ok. Do not expect luxuries , but if you upgrade you will have a better place. Breakfast not included in this price, but available. Staff is... Read the full Hem Hotel Amsterdam review

Worst Room Ever!

  • 1 out of 5 stars A traveler from Travelocity.com
  • November 12, 2009
Quote: My husband and I reserved a "double" room for a portion of our honeymoon in Europe. When we check in they sent us out to the annex discussed in other reviews. I feel that the other reviews do not adequately describe these rooms. The... Read the full Hem Hotel Amsterdam review

Good deal

  • 4 out of 5 stars A traveler from Travelocity.com
  • September 26, 2009
Quote: I was there for 6 nights and enjoyed it very much. Most of the staff are very good at what they do and seem to enjoy their jobs. The hotel is close to a tram line which makes for about a 20 minute ride to central station and the canal district. ... Read the full Hem Hotel Amsterdam review
