The Best Place to Stay Near Portofino and the Cinque Terre - Fantastic!

We spent 3 nights here after being in Nice and we didn't want to return to Nice. If we could have changed our plans, we would have. We were there in October and were upgraded to an ocean front room. We looked out across the sea towards Portofino. The staff was excellent and the location grand. We were told the pool was closed, but it was open on the weekend. Breakfast was included in room cost and was a great way to start the day. We never ate dinner in the dining room preferring instead to find restaurants downtown. The location is perfect for traveling anywhere around the area. The bed was comfortable and the room was beautiful. Our only complaint was that we couldn't get our room to cool down. When we called the front desk we were told that it was October and the A/C was not needed, so it was shut off for the season. Our room was 27 C (80 F). We were told to let the fan run as it vented in cooler outside are. Not true, the room just got hotter. We ended up having to sleep with the windows open and that was bothersome as the street outside was very noisy.

This hotel was perfect in every way, from our room which looked out to the sea, to the staff that couldn't have been more helpful. I would highly recommend the Excelsior Palace and would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Italy.

This was the ultimate! My husband and I were traveling 3 weeks all around Europe and we decided to stay at least 1 night at this beautiful place. We couldn't take enough pictures. Everything about it was wonderful, the view, the seawater crashing across the rocks, the infinity pool by the water. They had spa's, facials, massage treatments, and wonderful friendly service. This is definitely a great place to spend a week and we would go back. The food was very expensive and not to our taste, a few more dinner selections would have been nice. Breakfast was wonderful and included champagne. This is the place to stay for relaxation. This was probably our number 1 pick out of about 10 hotels we stayed in on this trip.
