hotel situated in a very quiet neighborhood, but a little too far away from all the major attractions. It takes about 20 - 25 minutes walk from the hotel to the Spanish Steps where is situated north of all the major attractions (where is also the closest to the hotel). If you don't mine the walking, it will be a very nice work out every day. Taxi is approximately 7 Eur one way from hotel to the Spanish Steps, quite expensive.
Room size is pretty good, but need some cosmetic works. Furnitures are getting old that need to be fixed nicely. Size of bathroom is good, but the shower area is too small for average American. Folding shower doors need good cleaning work as well as tiles in that area. Shampoo and shower cap do not refill automatically. I have to call the front desk when supplies are running out. I think the hotel should refill daily or replenish when supplies are getting low (out) in the gest room.
Overall, staffs are very polite and very helpfull in term of directions; phone number of the airlines; arranging transportations etc. It was okay to stay in this hotel but it will be even better if hotel can do some cosmetic work in the bathroom.

It's not near any of the sites that you want to see if you are a tourist, but if you just want a really nice little room it's perfect. Great for a romantic trip or a business trip. All the taxi drivers I had knew the Gambrinus. It is located in the business district and was just a 15 minute walk from the Rome Terminal. There are also several busses that run from the terminal and stop within half a block of the Gambrinus. The hotel is surrounded by many shops and restaurants. I did all my Christmas shopping. I also took taxis to a couple of the famous sites. It was about 10 euros to the Spanish Steps. But I also met people at the hotel who took the bus around town and said they enjoyed it very much. Both the day and night staff was very helpful. And they have a really good buffet breakfast that is included. Pancetta, Ham, Eggs, Fruits, Breads, Partries, Cereal, Yougurt, Juices, a good selection of Teas, and Coffee, both Italian and American style. If you want to be in walking distance of the main tourist attractions, this is not the place you are looking for. But I was very pleased for the price I paid. I got to see a lot of how people live and work in Rome.
