We choose a superior room because of two adults and one child. This provided us with two double beds. The room was as big as in the States with a very nice bathroom and a porch out the siding glass doors. The staff was very helpful.
The hotel is not close to all the sites which are on the other side of the river. Also, it is not
within walking distance of the Vatican. The bus and Metro are easy to use. (The Vatican is
three stops away using the Metro, then you have to walk to the Vatican.) At night there is no where to walk because of the location. Taking a cab costs around 15 euros to the other side of the river where the main sites are found.
We did not use the hotel shuttle because it ran at certain times. Also, don't depend on taking
the shuttle from the airport. It runs at a specific time in the morning. However, we were told the taxi cabs in Rome are only allowed to charge 40 Euros for a trip from the airport to the hotel.

We stayed there for one night before our cruise and we spend our time visiting Rome, the Hotel is not too far from Vatican city by taxi it costs us $8 Euro including tip and 13 Euro from the Rome Colisseum. It is not in the old portion of the city but at least you have a decent pool and the hotel is OK, regular Crowne Plaza standard.
Overall a great place to stay!

The room was wonderful! It was clean and comfortable and large! The reception desk was very nice and helpful! We only used the outdoor Pools (since we had our kids with us and they aren't allowed in the indoor spa/pool) and they were nice, but close at 8. Restaurants were too expensive for us, so as you exit hotel, turn right and eat at Arturos (closed Mon.) It was good food (especially the pizza) and reasonadly priced! Also, free shuttle to/from the hotel was WONDERFUL! While waiting for return shuttle, try the pizzeria at the end of the street across from Area Sacra -cheap and delicious! It is so easy to take a bus too! Bus 889 or 98 from the bus stop right outside hotel before Arturos on same side of street as hotel! Take that to Vatican! Then walk 2 blocks up to the bus stop (right before tunnel) for bus 64 which takes you to many different stops in Rome! Great hotel - More for your money and only 15 min. outside the city!

Hotel had many American-style amenities (large room and bathroom, flat screen TV with satellite). It was a great place to spend our last night in Rome - the shuttle bus from the town center was easy to catch to take out to the hotel. Note that the hotel is not within walking distance to any of the major sites, but there are many city buses that you can catch practically at the hotel entrance. There is also a free shuttle bus to the FCO airport - it only makes one trip in the morning, but it was very convenient!
