The Hotel Elektor is located in the heart of Krakow''s Old City. It was a short walk from the railway station, and our room had a lovely view of the Planty Gardens.
Our cabinmate on the Eurail was kind enough to accompany us to the hotel and negotiate the room rate in Polish. Both he and the manager spoke in raised voices and made many hand signals before the discussion was over. He turned to us and said he could only get the rate down to US$40/night. We were thrilled with that price for a room at a nice hotel with a bathroom, and we thanked him heartily. Then he left. We never learned his last name or saw him again, but we were grateful for his assistance since we had not booked accommodations in advance.
Our double room was furnished with two comfortable beds, TV, a fridge, and a well-supplied mini-bar.
The hotel was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see, so we were very grateful. We didn''t eat at the hotel restaurant, opting instead to try a pirogi parlour and Pizza Hut.
