Business and Relaxation - No AC

Very disappointed. Pool renevation was suppose to be completed mid-summer. One person in party was there for relaxation. Temperature warm, hotel has no AC. Finally realized ceiling fan not even cooling room, due to fan switch in wrong position. Climbed on chair and fixed it ourselves. Room window overlooked gargae structure and glimpse of pool renovation. Wanted to keep window open to cool room - but no privacy and noise from cars and construction made sleeping in difficult. Had drinks and appetizers in Jacks Lounge - service was slow (big event at hotel and no wait staff). Appetizers were cold and awful! White linen napkins left black pants a mess.
Good points- room clean with nice amenities and bell hop staff very nice. At check out, no one even bothered to ask how our stay was. Corporate selected this hotel - will advise to not use again. Disappointed.

Hotel has nice, just my room were not ready. They gave me a free upgrade on my rooms since I had to wait. Short walk to the beach or to the wharf. Staff was friendly at all times. I would stay again.

This was the first trip my sister and I had taken together. I was worried that the service would be poor because we had booked through a "discount" agency, online travel website. We were treated like royalty! Our room was upgraded when we arrived, we received free breakfast daily. We only had to make a call and wow, there they were with whatever we needed. This hotel has a two terrific places to eat, a spa, a gift shop, beautiful decor and it was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. Our balcony had a screened glass door so we were able to sleep safely with the door open and listened to the seals and sea gulls gather in the evening. I loved it but my sis wore ear plugs! We had a great stay and will definitely be returning.

Not a good expeirience all around. The Hotel was hosting and event and was not staffed properly to adiquitly handle the needs of their quests. Check in was cumbersom, lengthy and stressfull. 20 minutes to get the Valet only to be called at 11:30pm because he misplaced the Valet tag and needed to confirm my tag number. All the rooms in the second building facing the pool and ocean also face one of the bussiest streets in Montery and at it's entrance/exit point to a tunnle. All night long you are waken by the sound of drivers amusing themselves by blarring the horn all the way through the tunnel. Hot day and no airconditioning. The overhead fan was irrelivant because opening the door for fresh air was out of the questions due to the noise. No concierge on duty on Sun. Front desk again overwhelmed and understaffed at check out. The main part of the Hotel may be another expeirence altogether, but for the money I would never stay here again.
