We enjoyed the Westin and our time in Freeport very much. The hotel was adequate. We upgraded to an ocean front room. Spectacular view and well worth it. The pools and beach were just to our liking....lots of room, clean, beautiful. The entire property lovely. Had the buffet breakfast at Willy Broadleaf's every morning. It was $46 for two people. It was delicious and my husband loves breakfast so worth it for us. The food at the other restaurants was just TOO expensive. Even a Coke, a plastic cup, not a can, at the pool was $6.90 for two. Crazy. A cup of coffee in the lobby coffee stand...$4...even crazier. We would go back. The start of the trip was very quiet but more families came toward the end. No spring breakers at least while we were there. We ate at the Marketplace every evening and found delicious food at reasonable prices and after 9 nights, still enough variety.

We were charged to use the mini-bar in our room to keep our own water cool, $10/day. We were told of this charge when we were leaving! Every where you went they wanted you to tip even after they added a 15% gratuity. Breakfast at their buffet was $20/adult and $10/kids +15% gratuity and there wasn't fruit on the buffet. $70 for breakfast for a family of four is TOO STEEP! They ran out of towels everyday at the pool by 1:00p.m. Their trash cans were always over-flowing.
Their employees were very nice and helpful except for the women who ran the main desk at the hotel. Sometimes they were nice and sometimes they didn't like you or anyone that day.
The dolphin encounter was EXCELLENT! Pine-tree Stables was the BEST for horse-back riding! The locals were VERY NICE AND FRIENDLY! That's what I love about Freeport the most!
They need some improvements at this hotel.
Wedding Planner/ Return Visitor

I returned to Freeprort after my honeymoon seven years ago to be the wedding planner at my childhood friends wedding. As a wedding professional, I had high hopes for the staff at this resort. From the beginning it was difficult to communicate with the wedding planner from the resort. Mainly getting return phone calls and detailed information was impossible until we arrived on October 30th, one day before Tropical storm NOEL was to hit the island. The resort was in panic mode and did nothing to set aside the fears of the guests that were stuck there. In fact, we were sent to the Sheraton to stay because it was supposed to be safer which was fine except the eating establishments and the activities and even the pools were closed. The weather never did get bad and the storm missed the island completely. Basically, the first three days were spent arguing with the wedding planner at the resort and missing out on the good weather that was there. In the end, when everyone got moved back to the Westin, and the rehearsal day came everything was wonderful. The food at the event on Friday night and Saturday afternoon was great. THe bartenders and staff were incredible to our guests and made everyone feel at home. The wedding location was breathtaking and the reception by the pool was more than we could have asked for. The grounds are georgeous including all of the pools and gardens. The interior of the rooms is not fancy but it was clean and the beds are wonderful. I would come back here for a weekend getaway or a short vacation.

Long weekend getaway. The people are very friendly, but I found that everyone on the island is very friendly, from the cab driver to housekeeping. The only bad things I think, were 1-the shower had mold and 2- it is a non-smoking hotel and I'm a smoker who requested smoking. The food is expensive at the hotel, but if you don't mind that, it is okay food. Across the street we could eat the same quality for one third the price. The beach was clean and the staff ready to take the drinks and snack orders. We luckily got there, since the travel agency screwed up our airline reservations and left me on hold for an hour before I gave up and called the airline directly, who were extremely helpful and concerned to get us to our destination. No one at the travel agency spoke very good english so that told me they farm out the customer care center to another country.
Beautiful location, everything else is terrible

The food is DISGUSTING, and extremely overpriced. The resort has 5 or 6 restaurants, but only one or two are open for each meal. 15% gratuity is tacked onto your bill everywhere you go- even at the other restaurants near the hotel- that are not on the property. Two people can't eat a decent meal for less than $75, and that doesn't include drinks. Most alcoholic beverages are nearly ten dollars. So the hotel room rates are reasonable, but only because they stick it to ya as soon as you get there. There are not many activities- hardly any shopping- and not much to do. If you go- only stay a few days. It is nice during the week, quiet and calm- but starting Thursday its packed. Cruises drop boat-loads of people off to wander for the day- so if you are looking for peace and to relax- go during the early days of the week. Oh and watch out for storms..... We had great weather all week, but our last night there was a thunder storm and the hotel lost power! The rooms have crappy A/C anyway, and in the middle of the night when it stops working it gets pretty hot. The power was out for a few hours in the middle of the night- then went out again in the morning while we were trying to get ready to check out, and for some reason the loss of power also cuts off the water. We had to walk to the front desk in our pajamas and complain- and they did not care, at all! Watch out! Oh and don't bother going unless you pay for an ocean-view room. It is not worth it at all if you don't.
