worst trip of my life, i will never ever return

the Staff was unfriendly and and rude, the restaurants were overpriced and dirty the servers get an automatic 15 percent gratuity added to their bill regardless of how they treat their costumers, one bar had sticky substance all over the bar and it was gross, The food did not add up to the quality or quantity that you are paying for, which is an outrageous amount of money, I cant begin to explain how dissatisfied i am with the bahamas, I would never recomend it for anyone, I even filed a complaint to the manager and got a 50 dollar credit on my bill, compensation was not enough for my experience, the locals are unfriendly and mean. My online travel website was very helpful and i do not blame them for my experience, i will be booking further trips through them but i will never return to the bahamas

My husband and I just celebrated our 6th anniversary at the Westin. We married there in 2002 and every year it gets better and better. We had a beautiful corner room so we had wonderful views of the ocean and island. The staff at the hotel were wonderful. We played golf at the Reef twice and layed out at the infinity pool or beach everyday. We mostly went across to the marketplace and ate. Alot less expensive than eating at the resort. Zorba's and Pisces were the best. Pisces pizza was to die for. Had a GREAT cab driver named Neil that took us anywhere we needed to go. We have been every year since 2002 and have discovered that September/October is the best time to go if you want to avoid the crowds. Have already made plans to go back in 2009! The Bahamas and the Westin are the BESTand we would never stay anywhere else! K. Hoover (Memphis, TN).

My husband and I just returned, and would highly recommend going to the resort in October if you are trying to avoid the crowds! There were always lots of chairs at the pools and down by the beach...perfect for space and privacy. There were no long lines to wait for anything and the staff was hospitable, professional, and always available. There were always seats at the poolside bar-Hammerheads, where they play fun "island music." The drinks are delicious, but expensive. If you don't have a problem w/ extra tipping, you will likely get a better pour, too!! Never tried the actual restaurants on the resort, and in October only 2-3 were open. However, we did order room service a few times, and everything was hot and delicious, albeit very $$$! Primarily, we ate/drank across the street at the marketplace, which is the only area that showed any signs of party life! The bars were cheaper than in the states, and the customer service was outstanding! We ate at Zorbas for 3 different meals-all were spectacular. (You don't expect amazing things from a place w/ plastic tablecloths, but TRUST ME, it was awesome!!!) For a special meal our last night, we went to Lucianos-phenomenal!! Honestly, there is something for everyone over there... There are also many activities available right there at the resort. Snorkeling was a lot of fun, and very reasonable $. Also, for adventure, go horseback riding w/ Trikk Pony stables. The employess are fantastic and takes you to a BEAUTIFUL part of the island!! The highlight of our trip!!! The only complaint we had whatsoever was having to pay to have a refrigerator put in our room for $10/day. The one provided is full w/ honor bar items which you cannot move w/o paying for! Overall, it was DIVINE!

Not sure we'll return

Good news was that the beaches are beautiful, calm and clean. Pools and plentiful. The resort needs updated. I was there 3 years ago and nothing has been done since then. Carpets in room were dirty, sliding door didn't shut, old televisions, old bathrooms with rust in sink and tub. In October more than half of the resorts restaurants and bars were closed. This was disappointing and not revealed to us in advance. Service and food at restaurants was mediocre and best but still included resort costs. We knew we were receiving a bargain for a reason and we found out the reasons above when we arrived.

Fabulous

I love the Westin Resort. The room was spacious, and comfortable. Also, the cleaniness, of the room was spotless. My only regret was not acquiring an ocean front view. The locals are very nice people. I met some unforgetable people. I enjoyed my visit, and I hope that I will return someday . The front desk workers were nice. My only disappointment was not having a refrigerator inside the room. They did offer one, but I would have to pay * dollars per night. And my response to that was no way. All in all the overall hotel experience met my standards. The positives outweight its negatives.
