Highly recommend, if ....

...you consider a hotel room only to be a place where you lay down your head at night. Our room was OK (clean but you can hear the street traffic) and the staff are courteous and very helpful. The strongest point is the hotel's location...it's ideally located for getting around town (right across the plaza from the cathedral and a <5 minute walk from the metro).
Friendly Staff and Great Location

We only stayed here one night, but the staff was very friendly and helpful. They arranged to have a taxi there at 4:00 in the morning so we could get to the airport. We were able to check in early and our room was clean and comfortable. This hotel is in a great location, within walking distrance to many attractions. Bus tours can be easily picked up from this area and the hotel will provide tickets right there. The only problem is the noise from the street at night. If you are a light sleeper you might want to consider another hotel. We are not so it really didn't bother us. I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel.

The hotel is right next to the Cathedral plaza and easy walking to the Gothic and Born districts and to bus and and subway transportation. The front desk is very helpful and they provided us directions to an internet 'cafe'. The only complaint we have is the noise, not so much from the garbage trucks in front, but from the adjoining room next door. The walls are so thin that you can hear their television, conversations, and toilet flushing as though you were sharing a room.
Amazing Hotel at a Discount Price

It is centrally located in the Gothic Old Town part of the city and is only a minute walk from the main Cathedral and plaza. Most things are in walking distance, ie. the Picasso Museum, Zoo and Arch de Triumph, Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas and the Waterfront. It is also very metro accessible. At Placa de Catalunya (only a five minture walk north), there is an Aerobus that will drop you off or take you to the airport within 30 minutes and only costing 3 Euro instead of the 32 Euro taxi fare. It is surrounded by tons of shopping, cafes and if you ask for room 261, you will get a terrace!
Great location and clean hotel

"The REgencia Colon hotel was clean and the rooms were well-kept. The employees all spoke english and the service was excellent. The location was wonderful as it was right in the hub of the Old Gothic Area with a short walk to La Rambla, the main blvd. with lots of shopping and restaurants. The only problem was the noise level outside. The unloading of dumpsters and the people in the square kept us up. Despite the noise problem, the location of the hotel and the cleanliness and service would definitely bring us back for another stay. "
