Venice in January

Venice was magical in January. Once more my wife and i enjoyed this beautiful city at a hotel located in the center of action , somewhat away from tourists.

Rialto Hotel's 'Ca Rialto Annex

Wanting to stay at the Rialto Hotel, next to the Rialto Bridge, but knowing it wasn't in the budget, we elected to stay in their 'Ca Rialto, an annex to the main building w/ an entrance off an alley. (E-mail: info@rialtohotel.com) There were two flights of stairs & no lift (elevator), but the room was very large & had exceptionally good air conditioning. The 'Ca Rialto was quite secure, requiring you to buzz in at the alley entrance, identify yourself & your room number, buzz in again at the entrance to the annex, then swipe your room key over a keypad to enter the room. Cameras were also in the hallway. A hearty breakfast was served in the main building. From in front of the hotel, you could catch a vaporetto (water taxi) anywhere you wanted to go.
