Hotel Carlton and Grand Canal

This lovely hotel is strategically located 20 minutes from St. Marks square on the Grand Canal right across the canal from the train station and vaporetto boat stop. It is small with only 115 rooms, with half the rooms facing the Grand Canal. The hotel room while expensive ($400/night) was very romantic with a wonderful view of the canal. The hotel had a small restaurant which served a full buffet breakfast every morning. The hotel staff were very gracious and the room while small, met our every need. since it was our anniversary we were given a lovely fruit basket and flower arrangement. In addition, the hotel staff arranged a wonderful gondola ride in the evening located outside of our hotel (the hotel has its own boat dock). I highly recommend this hotel for those who want a celebrate a special occasion.
