This hotel was great! We stayed here from May 8-11, 2008. We took the Discovery Cruise over from Fort Lauderdale, Fl. That was a great experience also!
The rooms were super clean. They provided, shampoo, lotion, hair dryer, iron/ironing board, coffee maker (with Starbucks Coffee Pods....YUM!), free internet service, good choice of channels on the tv (including HBO and Showtime), refrigerator, etc...
The staff were all very friendly and offered us suggestions on activities we could do.
The location is the best....right across from The Market Place. If you want a great place to eat, try Rum Runners in the Market Place. Wonderful food and very reasonably priced. It is like a bar/restaurant. We went there with myself, my husband and our 11 year old son and we felt comfortable. Our son loved the grilled cheese sandwich and wanted to go back again the next day!
The pools were wonderful! We never had to worry about finding open lounge chairs. No matter what time you went to the pools, it was never too crowded. You can also use the Westin pools which did seem to be a bit warmer. Plus they had padded lounge chairs! We only went over there a few times, though. The Sheraton pools were fabulous, too! There is a water slide for kids which our son loved!
The only negative thing I can think of is that the pools are only open until 6:00 pm. We found that to be a bummer! They could have at last stayed open until 8:00 pm. Oh well, we just spent more time at the beach (which is right outside the doors!).
The rooms were cleaned every day. We always had an abundance of clean towels and the linens were changed daily, too. It was so nice to have tightly tucked in sheets each night!
We can't wait to go back to the Bahamas and stay here at the Sheraton again!

This was my first time staying at this hotel and after reading the reviews I was a little worried!!!
When I got to check in a very nice lady took care of me and I asked for an upgrade to a room with a balcony which I got with no problem, every day the room was cleaned very well with fresh towels and the staff was friendly and eager to help in any way. I never ate at the resort only drinks at the prop club the service was great I spilled my drink and the manager gave me one for free!! outside the resort you get towels to use at the beach and at the beach they have lounge chairs for the guest to use free of charge. I have been to the Bahamas several times and have stay many places but I found my favorite spot and I am looking forward to staying there again, It may cost a few dollars more to stay here but you are where the action is so you don't have to take a taxi to get into town because you are already there!!!
Good place to stay, fair price for amenities

The only problems we encountered was the poor service at the restaurants and the bathrooms a bit small for a family of 4 sharing a room. Otherwise, the trip was enjoyable and the kids had a blast.
Nobody cared about our time and money!

We arrived late Friday evening around 10:30pm. A quick little rest in paradise. The hotel was a nightmare. First I asked for an upgrade as a Starwoods Preferred Memeber and was told the place was full. It was no where near full. We could go anywhere and it was very slow. The beach and casino were empty. Then they put us in a smoking room. I called the front desk and complained. After some hesitation we were moved to a non smoking room. Both rooms had one thing in common though, the bathrooms. They had mold in almost every corner. They were so small a space that you had to go back out into the room to change your mind. Now for the fun part. We went for a short walk to get our bearings and when we came back we couldn't access our room. The keys did not work. So we returned to the front desk and got two new ones. This time one worked but the second one did not. I called the desk and was told that they would send a Bellman up with another. I said "no thanks I'll come get it" as I was going broke tipping this Bellman. Went down, got my new key # 3 and when I tried it it didn't work either. To the point, we spent the next two days getting new keys (8) and actually waiting in the room to have our lock re-programmed as now it didn't work with any key. No one ever showed up. We went back down and complained. We left for two hours, came back, still not working!!! Literally hours of our vacation wasted. What a mess.
