Manager Not Interested in Customer Service

This hotel is beautiful, but if you are looking for a place with customer service, this is not it! They are more interested in making money off of you, than making you happy about your stay. We booked a room for one night (then planned on going to Westin Lagunamar where we own a time share) we had to cancel our reservation because we had a family medical issue come up and they were not accomidating about it. They refused to cancel our reservation without charging us the $1200 (USD) fee anyway. I went as far a contacting the General Manager, Jorge Herran, but he was the most non accomidating hotel manager I have ever come accross. We even had Starwood Vacation Ownership (the time share we own through and part of the westin hotel family) contact the general manager because they felt he was being unfair, but he did not care, he wanted his money and did not care what the issue was. It was only one night, but the management was very rude and could not understand why we would want to stay somewhere other than their hotel. We are still fighting with the hotel to get this resolved as starwood does not feel they are giving the type of customer service that the company is known for.... If you don't mind paying a lot of money for no customer service and rudeness, then this is probably the place for you. They have a high opinion of themselves and really only care about making money, not servicing their guests. I would not reccomend this place, they are over priced and rude!
Nice Hotel but where's the ice?

Nice hotel. Clean and not over crowded. We were able to get a room on the non-construction side. I would have preferred to be closer to town so that we could be closer to dining options.
Food and drink at hotel is very pricey (not unlike other hotels).We could not locate a breakfast place anywhere near the hotel. Hotel staff very courteous and helpful. Hotel is very secure. The ice machines on our floor (as well as all others floors) were not working. Massage on the beach was awesome. Access to the ocean just a few feet away.

I chose this hotel based on reviews on another travel site and Le Meridien's reputation for excellence and I was not dissapointed. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a wet towel and fruit juice. The bellman helped me with my luggage and explained the layout of the hotel without being asked. Everyone was very helpful and attentive. The hotel is immaculate and beautiful. I couldn't ask for more.
The only complaint I have (which isn't anyone's fault) is the construction going on next door. It didn't disturb me any (no real noise to talk about) but just wasn't pleasing to the eye.
I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone willing to pay for comfort, quality and peace of mind. Happy vacationing!
Not worth the money

I didn't have the best time at this hotel. They had a huge discount at the time so I went, but it was still not worth the money. Everything is over priced. Only thing I did like was the heated pool, but other than that nothing stood out.If you are rich and you need to stay at name brand hotel, this should do, but if you are looking for fun and deals, this isn' t the place.
Where's the food?

Enjoyed our hotel stay; however, the hotel restaurant food is definitely not worth the price. Fortunately, there are some good restaurants in the area -- some are located in neighboring hotels.
