Pueblo Bonito Resort at Sunset Beach

Best Things Nearby:
The shuttle service provided by the resort provides free transportation to town to their "sister" resorts. There is nothing that is within walking distance of the resort, although the resort has many amneties that are quite accommodating.

Best Things About the Resort:
This is a new resort and the property is beautiful.

Resort Experience:
The Pueblo Bonito Resort - Sunset Beach is fabulous.

We went to Cabo for my husband's birthday and stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. Friends were also staying at the resort who are timeshare owners. They upgraded their studio timeshare to a one bedroom during this trip.

The resort is very beautiful and well-landscaped. Construction is still underway, but you cannot hear the construction noise, and it is not obtrusive to the guests staying in the completed portion of the hotel.

We stayed in a one-bedroom suite we purchased from Expedia, but while there, we looked at all of the model units as well as our friends' studio units. They were all fabulous, with quality construction and furnishings.

The resort is located hillside, so every room has an ocean view. However, this means long, steep walks or taking the golf cart shuttle to the main pool or store. We didn't mind and actually enjoyed the exercise, choosing to walk even though carts run regularly and the staff is courteous and always stops to offer a ride.

The resort is not in the center of town, and is secluded from other outside activities. However, a taxi ride is convenients and costs about $10. You can also take a free shuttle to the Pueblo Bonito Rose which runs regulary. We didn't find this to be an inconvenience at all. The resort is on the pacific side and you can't go in the water, which is one drawback if you like to swim in the ocean. However, you can take the free shuttles to the other Pueblo Bonito resorts in Cabo for ocean swimming. WE did take long walks on the beach and this was fun! The waves breaking right at the end of the beach were awesome to look at!

Best Things Nearby:
This resort is outside of the main area of Cabo, but it is a beautiful resort and worth the commute. There is a shuttle bus that takes you down to Pueblo Bonito Rose that leaves on the hour until 10pm. The bus from Pueblo Bonito Rose leaves on the half hour.

Best Things About the Resort:
The rooms are huge. We had a balcony that was about 20 feet long by 8 feet wide. The units are nicely furnished, and they spared no expense, meaning top-of-the-line everything in the rooms. We had two bathrooms, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The beach is beautiful to walk on and watch the waves crash against the shore. You cannot go in the water, but somehow, it really doesn't matter. You can always take the shuttle to the Rose for an afternoon of swimming and then return to the grandeur of the Pueblo Bonito Sunset. The spa at the Sunset leaves something to be desired; my wife recommends the spa at the Pueblo Bonito Rose.

Resort Experience:
This place is like staying in a museum. There are many exquisite pieces of art throughout the resort, so that you feel like you are in one of the cathedrals in Europe. The owner collects pieces of art that he has acquired from all over the world. Whether you are religious or not, you cannot help feeling a spiritual closeness to God at this resort. They even have a lovely, quaint chapel to pray. I don't go to church, but I found myself in the chapel several times, thanking God for being kind to me and praying for peace in these troubling times. This resort is more than a resort - it is a spiritual retreat for the mind, body, and soul. The restaurants are exquisite, romantic with superb service! I am going back as soon as I can!

Best Things Nearby:
The resort is somewhat isolated but has a wonderful primary pool as well as another smaller pool, a hot tub, a deli, and a full service restaurant.

Best Things About the Resort:
It's brand new! Construction is ongoing and more units are being added.

Resort Experience:
We arrived about 3pm and our unit wasn't quite ready so they directed us to the "hospitality" table for our welcome packet. We were invited to join them for a sales (they didn't use the "s" word) tour and we declined. Then the pressure began to build . . . they finally got the message! I made the mistake of mentioning that my sister and her husband would be joining us when their flight arrived, and we adjourned to the bar for refreshments until our condo was ready. When my sister arrived and we finally met, she informed me that the "hostess" told her that I wanted her to sign up for the tour so we could get a discount on fishing; in fact, she told her I insisted that she sign up for the tour! NOT FAIR, Sunset Beach!! I would NEVER make plans for someone else! We cancelled the tour but it left a very bad taste! I understand the sales game, and lying has never induced me to buying timeshare. There is a huge difference between agressive and pushy!

Our condo was huge and even though it was only a one-bedroom unit, there was plenty of room. The bedroom had two double-beds, a full bath, a sitting room, and a patio. We've stayed at many resorts in Cabo, and this was the most comfortable bed I've had yet! The kitchen was well-furnished and the living-room, dining-room combination also had an adjoining patio. The couch was a sleep sofa and my sister said it was very comfortable. Most surprising of all, I was delighted to find the unit contained a second full bath off the entry hall! How often do you find 2 full baths in a 1BR condo? With more than one couple occupying the unit, this was very much appreciated! WAY TO GO, SUNSET BEACH!

The resort staff was very friendly and accommodating. They had games and pool activities, and we enjoyed the resort.

Our only objection was the remoteness of the location and the extra expense incurred to get to town. Figure $50 a day for taxi fare if you go to town twice, once to the Marina for fishing and again in the evening for dinner.

We spent 2 weeks here…one in a junior suite and one in a penthouse. Both units were incredible in being well designed, commodious, and large. The marble floors and decor were lovely and the construction of high quality. NO noise inside! If one has the door to the private terrace open, one can hear the modified golf carts which ferry guests around the resort. You will be thankful for the carts! Door to door service makes up for the steep hills that allow for the 180-degree views of the ocean!

The pools are great. The lower level pool by the ocean has a swim up bar and happy hour became our ritual there or at the little tables with ocean view nearby. The expansive ocean view allows you to see jumping rays (fish) and even hear them smack the water! You may also spot a whale or two from your own room. This is of course spectacularly true from the penthouse. Ours was so huge, we felt like we should move from bed to bed to "use the place" (my husband and I were there alone in this three-bedroom and rattled around in it.) Room for 10, yes! We loved our own private terraces and our very own jacuzzi hot tub under the stars from which we could watch the sunset over the ocean and sip our wine. We had enough privacy to shed our swimsuits for this quite romantic setting. So relaxing!

There is a good exercise room with the great views from the treadmills, but walking up and down the hills or taking the stairs could substitute! What is nice is that even those with physical handicaps can enjoy this resort due to the ever available door to door to door or pool or restaurant or lobby service. Room service is also prompt and good. The facilities here will actually be even better when the projected Bellagio-style high-end shops are added in a building at the resort ...and the golf course is done!

Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach was a fabulous resort!

We stayed in a one-bedroom hotel unit at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. The resort is comprised of hotel and timeshare units and is located outside of town. There is nothing within walking distance other than the onsite amenities. Our check-in was very smooth.

All of the buildings are located facing the ocean on a steep hill; every building provides an ocean view because of the layout of the resort. The resort is beautifully landscaped with flowers, multiple bird atriums with a variety of birds, connected via trails. WE were escorted to our room on a golf cart. Although we had paid for a studio, we were upgraded to a one-bedroom unit. We were pleasantly surprised -- the accommodations were outstanding. Our unit had two full bathrooms. The living area had a small table, a stocked refrigerator, and shelf with various incidentals and snacks (available at a price). One of the full bathrooms was off of the "kitchenette" area. There was a couch, large cabinet with a TV, and sliders to the balcony that stretched across the living room and bedroom area. The bedroom was quite large with a king size bed, television, seating area and full bathroom. Both bathrooms were finished in beautiful Mexican tile!

When we went to the resort there were two pools completed and one restaurant, and pool bar service. There are plans for another very large pool, another restaurant, and a complete spa. One of the pools was directly behind our building, and very close. The other was at the bottom of the hill, near the beach. This is where the restaurant and store were also located. Golf carts shuttled guests up and down to the main pool. Both pools had a swim-up bar and provided grill service during lunch and throughout the afternoon. Happy hour started at 4pm and all drinks at the swim-up bar were two-for-one. The "Sunset Special" was my favorite!

On most days we walked to the main pool. Walking down the steep inclines to the pool was very vigorous, especially in the sun, but we enjoyed the exercise. The shuttle service via golf cart, was also very convenient. Although you can call for a golf cart, guests never needed to, they passed through the area very frequently.

Because the resort layout is on a steep hill, even the main pool is set fairly high above the beach. The restroom facilities are down a long flight of stairs. People who cannot get around easily may find this resort a challenge.

The resort itself is on a beach where no swimming is allowed. The waves break right at the edge of the ocean -- although beautiful, they can be dangerous. Even the locals avoid the water here. Guests looking for a place to swim in the ocean should stay elsewhere.

Overall, I had a great time and can't wait to go back!
