OCEAN CLUB WEST

Ocean club west was a great resort. It was nice to have a kitchenette we saved a lot of money. Would advise taking as much food and snacks as possible. The food is very expensive (case of cheap beer $45). It was a very quiet resort, it was nice not to have loud music and drunks. If you are looking for a party atmosphere not a good resort, nice family resort, great for children. Bed was comfortable pillows not so much. The location was great the best beach I have ever seen, water a little rough. Over all the resort was great we would definitely stay here again.

Not luxury but still nice

Not really a "luxury" resort, but still nice. Quality may improve with room type. I had a studio suite, the smallest available. It's about the size of a small hotel room, but with a nice kitchenette. Full size refrigerator, cook top, microwave, and all the small appliances, pots and utensils you could ever need. Includes a washer/dryer and they even provided the detergent. In addition to those positives, suites have a screened balcony. I walked the beach and only Ocean Club East and the Tuscany also had screened balconies. I can count the mosquitos I encountered on one hand, but I hear they can get pretty bad, so the screen was a real plus. Another positive is location, as it's centrally located along Grace Bay. Additionally, restaurants and shops are a 5 minute walk from the resort. The staff is very friendly; in fact all the "Belongers" (natives) seem genuinely happy to have you there. That was a real plus after being treated with indifference and rudeness at the Atlantis, Paradise Island. The beach is OUTSTANDING!! I was there off season, so in a two mile stretch, there were only about 100 - 150 people about. Was easily able to get a lounge chair and umbrella every day, no problem. Very quiet, very peaceful, no one hassling you to buy things on the beach except for the occasional parasail operator. Turks & Caicos boasts the lowest crime rate in the Caribbean; very safe. The negatives: resort not truly luxury (though quite acceptable), only one restaurant on-site, no room service, furniture was more shabby than chic (low end furniture included a beat-up dresser with a broken knob), small shallow pool a disappointment, no real nightlife if you want it (I didn't), and expensive, though US dollars the currency.

Best Beach-High Island Prices-Some room to improve

We have been to a number of islands in the Carib, T&C is beautiful--stellar beach, water. There is significant development underway (make sure your location is not adjacent to construction if you want a peaceful sleep--ours was not). There are multiple options for off-site water activities, and very limited retail as of April, 2008. We had kitchen facilities but there is only one real grocery which will cost you $30 or more to visit by taxi. OCWest is a comfortable facility for families, with great access to great beach--perfect for small children to teens. Our deluxe 1BR w/fold-out couch for a teen son was mostly clean, spacious and functional--we had a broken coffee pot, doors in the BR and a bizarre shower set-up, but about what I expected for the price (good value). Our room was on 2nd level and faced the pool--very noisy all day. Best feature--screened porches. Food and drink are NYC prices++ and fish was not even fresh at OC restaurant!? Staff was either pleasant, sullen or clueless. Other good restaurants in area--Big Bamboo Grill was best food/good value. Giggles for ice cream. OCW needs some beach attendants and access to simple water sport toys.
