Disappointing

My husband and I arrived at Carribean Village and the hotel staff were unorganized . They were short staffed and didn't seem to know what rooms were available. We asked for a room close to the reception area and the room was horrible. The bathroom was in very bad conditions and not too clean. The room was swamped with mosquitos. My husband got bit 5 times. We were also informed that to go to the beach we would have to take the hotel bus. This resort is a disappointment compared to a few others that we had stayed at in previous years. We felt depressed and left 20 minutes after arriving. We went to a different resort with better service and much nicer rooms and we were able to see the beach from the entrance of the hotel NOT TAKE A BUS. If Caribbean Village wants to compete with all the other resorts at this complex they need to step to the plate and provide better service. ADVICE: don't choose hotels by the pictures you see, read the reviews from previous guests.

Okay the trip was wonderfull, Puerto Plata is a little like San Felipe. I went by myself I am 52 years old. The hotel all in all is just very basic. For the price you get what you paid for.
The room was nice you get a small couch, table and a balcony they are like condos 4 per unit.
You have your own private entry and you have a patio balcony with table, and chairs.
The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were good, I slepted allot my room was like a cave, dark and quiet the furniture is outdated, the A/C was great always worked quiet, the ceiling fan I did not use becasue it made a funny noise and since I have the A/C why use the fan. The bathroom was great and I had great hot running water for my showers, and was clean. Their are no safes in the rooms if you need to put your valueables away you have to rent a locker from the front desk. Check in was a quick 10 minutes, so was my check out.
The staff was just great they went out of their way to help you. They only have (1) restaurant "El Pilon" buffett style the food is basic dominican food, they do have a grill by the pool and that was nice hot dogs, hamburgers. The pool is not to big but the staff they do lots of things to keep you happy. The show with the cuban singer is just perfect.
The beach is 10 minute walk and the tractor picks you up but it stops picking up at 5:00.
All in all it is very basic if you are young with friends on a budget this is good for you.

At arrival, front desk did not acknowledge or focus on us. Too busy doing other things. The majority of the amenities were closed which weren't many to begin with, and the entertainment was horrible. Had it not been for the bar it would have been completely boring. Food was bad. No real variety for the buffet style of the restaurant.

I just returned home from a week with my girlfriends. I just wanted to compliment the friendliness of the staff particularly Winston and Camouflage. They were really nice and very funny. The entertainment was great too. Nice resort.
The Chicago gals.

Rent to locals every weekend - fist fights at bar, dirty diapers around the pool - loud, rude unsupervised children running amok - very little english spoken - no towels even when you phone for them - had to get tour rep to get mattress without broken springs - bats in second floor room balconys - ants and mosquitoes in rooms - charge for safe in room - food in a la carte unbelievably awful - no irons available - no in room coffee - no in room bar - no king beds in any rooms
