Description: We didn''t stay overnight at the Negril Gardens resort, so my impressions of it might be different than someone who spent a while in the area. As part of a day tour to Negril from Montego Bay we were allowed to use Negril Gardens as a base camp, with access to their facilities, eating their food and drinking their liquor.
The resort campus is divided into two sections, with most of the rooms across the street from the beach in a manicured lawn area. Most of the buildings looked rather basic and underwhelming, and the meal area was quite Spartan. Food was served in the bar area during the afternoon, which ended up being great in that it was located right on Seven Mile Beach. While the meal was just okay, the liquor was considerably better than the rubbing alcohol that passed for vodka back in Montego Bay''s Sea Castles resort.
Most folks who were staying there for the whole week were very enthusiastic about the centrally-located resort, but I think that may have had a lot to do with their enthusiasm for Negril. I loved Seven Mile Beach and the surrounding area much more than Montego Bay and Ocho Rios and would have liked to stay here, too. But I''d splurge and stay at a little more up-scale resort if I were to return.
