Upon reading some reviews don't be thrown by the bad comments. Such a beautiful beach! The staff has always been great! Not one complaint. My only complaint is that it is not sunny all the time. Traveling with three children and they love it also!

This was our first vacation in Jamiaca and had stayed at other Riu's so we knew the level service and accomodations to expect. We were greeted at the front desk is a tropical drink. We had no problems with room and it was realdy when we arrived (late afternoon). The room did not smell musty and was kept clean, plenty of towels. We have been to many beaches in the Caribbean and have to say that this was the most beautiful beach we have seen, sunsets are beautiful! The food was ok, disappointed that the fruit selection and quality was not as good as we had experienced at the Riu in Cancun. The shows were very amaturish and they only had one large bar in the evening, which is where the entertainment also was. Being an all inclusive hotel and miles from anywhere, we felt like we were being held hostage in the evening to watch the shows since there was nothing else to do. You can get taxi's into town but were advised not to, that it was not safe even for the locals. There are pros and cons to every resort and after walking the beach and looking at other hotels and their beaches, we were happy to be where we were staying. I would go back but maybe for a shorter duration.

Considering we had major problems by booking through Travel agency, this resort was fantastic. Our son was getting married at another resort that was booked full. We went to the other resort for the day. That made us even more impressed with Riu Tropical Bay. The rooms were very clean. The staff was very polite and helpful. The food was not fantastic but I'm very picky. I thought it was better than the food we were served at my son's wedding dinner, though. We were only there for a few days but are planning to come back with the rest of the family.
Did the overall hotel experience meet your needs?

To sum it up....I absolutely loved my stay. The staff was excellent. A very cheerful upbeat environment. The entertainment staff did everything they could to get you involved in activities. The food was excellent and the drinks were great!
