It was my 3rd trip to negril, and my 3rd time staying at RIU palace Tropical Bay. I was there twice in 2006 and loved it very much, the manager X remembered me from 3 years ago and treated me so good, always making sure I had everything I needed, helped me with the restaurant reservation and so on.. The male entertainers are flawless, great dancers! The female aren't as good as before(different girls) The only thing I didnt like was some changes they made. They used to have a disco and a pizzaria open 24/7, with different food...they are both gone,so when I got back to the hotel late at night, there were only some hot dogs and some sandwiches inside the refrigerator for us to put in the microwave and eat. Apart from that,I loved everything ! Everytime i go to that hotel Im treated like a princess! Cant wait to go back!

We just returned from the RIU in Negril. It was fantastic!! Service - superb. Food was good - something for everyone - I am not much into exotic foods - so some of the selections were not to my liking. However - the breakfast buffet was fabulous, so was the dinner buffet. The Jerk Shack was the BEST chicken I have ever had. We went to the Krystal Restaraunt - wouldn't and didn't go back - was OK but not as good as the buffet. Pools were great - beach was incredible. My husband does not like the sun - there were palm trees on the beach for him - so he was happy. Entertainment was hokey. Don't expect Broadway. Something like a grade school show. We didn't go for the entertainment - we went for the relaxation - and it was very nice. Rooms were clean and pretty. Resort was very well kept. Bars were in abundance. Easy to get a drink. We took our 13 year old daughter - she loved it. Did the horseback excursion - it was fun. ONLY negative we had was the airport transport (not a negative due to the hotel) We arrived at 11:20 in the morning and SAT on the bus waiting for "other people to get on" for almost 2 Hours!!! The ride to Negril is 1 hour and 45 minutes. On the way back - SAME THING!! The bus picked us up at 7:30 AM for a 12:40 pm flight. It was ridiculous. We got to the airport at 9:30 AM and sat for hours. To me - it was wasted days.

From Fl. stayed 4/09 Excellant.

Resort was truely a paradise. Staff very friendly & helpful especially the entertainment staff, they went over & above to make your time enjoyable. We had an ocean front room extremely accommodating & clean. The buffet was plentiful. The japanese restaurant was probaly the best. Don't miss the jerk hut, the chicken was outstanding, couldn't get enough. Nightly entertainment was good. Make sure you go to Rick's cafe for the cliff divers & beautiful sunset. We had no problems with bugs we brought spray as suggested on a review I read but never needed it. If you like to have fun, eat, drink, swim, be entertained this has it all. If I had one complaint it would the distance you have to walk when needing the restroom. None around the pool or beach. Would definetly return to this resort.

We arrived to a moldy smelling room, smothered by baby powder smelling air freshner. It was 5:15pm. The dining room was closed until 6:30p. 24h room service menu was limmited. There were 4 sandwiches to choose from, which all included cheese. I am allergic to dairy. After 30mins on the phone we were able to get a plain chicken sandwich. BREAKFAST, LUNCH & DINNER left a lot to be desired. I have eaten better carribean food in NY. We were never able to get early dinner reservation. Yo have to wake up by 7a to do that on a daily basis. We were on vacation. As a result we ate at restaurants in the area. Taxi service was over priced. Round trip to the dowtown shopping area was $20 ( he took our money up front and he was 30 mins late picking us up. We were forced to wait for him or pay for another cab). We paid it the first day. We later found out we could take a local cab privately for $5-$7 each way or $1 each oneway with other people. Internet and phone service were extemely expensive. Our luggage was lost. It cost us $1 US/min to make a local call to the airport and $3/min to call Delta's 800#. I forgot how expensive internet service was. I was so turned off. However we did find a hotel (Rayon's)with free internet service. You may use there computer or Wi fi. The food was also great there. Overall, we loved Negril. However we will not be sating at the RIU again in the near future. The hotel was beutiful. However there is something to be said for excellent service...this hotel lacked.
