Everything was awesome including our room, the drinks, the food and the weather. Service was great, the 4 pools and beach area were very nice and clean. You have to go to the Fiesta! Best night of our trip. Sign up for the Stone Island Tour it's very worth the $25 (sign up from the vendor on the beach). Ride a Pulmonia to downtown for your shopping. Money exchange at front desk was great, and the lobby has 3 computers with internet access available for about $3/hour.This hotel was extremely well kept.
Our favorite hotel in Mazatlan

My husband and I return to La Playa over and over again (4 times and counting!). We have learned our lesson- we tried other hotels in Mazatlan only to find we were sharing our room with herds of roaches, old cigarette smoke, or loud "roommates" next door. We've never had a bad experience at La Playa and won't stay anywhere else!
Great experience!

This hotel offered great secluded access to the beach, a wonderful view from the restaurant, three beautiful pools, and an extremely clean/well-kept grounds/facilities. The rooms are simple, but clean and comfortable with purified water and AC. We could have gone so wrong with other hotels in the area, but went on a recommendation from some friends. The hotel made the vacation wonderful with such a nice beach and a location just a short taxi ride from the more crowded city center. I would recommend this hotel to anyone on any budget.

we have traveled to mazatlan many times over many years. the staff continues to be excellent and the food was very, very good. no problems except the mattress was too hard in our room.we had better service from the hotel than we did a lot of the stores in the shopping district. july is not a good time to go to mazatlan. was extremely hot , more so than usual.spring is a much better time. still , mazatlan is a wonderful place to go on a budget, to meet people, and just relax.

I have stayed at Playa since the 1980's and have enjoyed everything it has to offer. This property was once the jewel of the Golden Zone. It is time for a major remodel and refurbishing. I had an Oceanview room which was the most expensive available. The shower head was a trickle and the room temperature was at 83F I'll stay at El Cid which at this point in time is a more attractive property
