The most amazing trip we have ever been on!

I did alot a research before picking our vacation. It was our first time out of the country and we wanted it to be a fun and safe trip. We decided on Sunset Jamaica Grande. I am so glad that we did. Jamaica is so beautiful. It is a long distance from the airport to the resort but is worth it to see all of jamaica and the wonderful tour guide telling you amazing history on the way. The scenery is beautiful and sad at the same time. To see how people are living in Jamaica makes you want to cry. But once you hit Ocho Rios its breath taking. As soon as you step out off the bus you are greeted with drinks and someone coming to take your bags. We are directed to the reception area and it is open and airy and beautiful. The staff is so polite and happy that you are there. We were upgraded to an ocean view room and thank God we did. It was the most amazing view we have ever seen. The room had a tropical feel to it with the not too bright yellow walls. The all-inclusive option is the best and the food was soo good. And thats saying something because I am the most picky eater. The 2 swim up bars were fantastic. And people who said the alcohol was watered down obviously were alcoholics because all the drinks we had were very strong. And boy did they keep them coming. The ocean is beautiful a bit cool but once you get in you'll get used to it. It is one remarkable place. All we have to say is that you take it all in. Its fantastic!!!
An Amazing Wedding

We travelled to Jamaica for the first time on March 2, 2008 to attend the wedding of our daughter. We were somewhat nervous about the whole thing. We did get off to a rocky start with delays in our flight out of Toronto and a few problems with our travel agent and airlines. The hotel itself and the Wedding co-ordinator were wonderful. We were a group of 37 people altogether and the hotel did the best they could due to accommodate us all. And moved a number of out guests so that we could be in the same area in the hotel. The staff were wonderful and the food was very good and quite plentiful. The rooms were quite clean, there was a dampness in the rooms when we first arrive, but with the air conditioner on, that cleared in a very short amount of time. The resort itself had a great deal to offer and if you participated in what they had, you certainly would not be bored. The wedding ceremony was absolutely beautiful, the photographer the florist everyone was wonderful.
The resort itself is only minutes from the downtown of Ocho Rios and we made many walking excursions through the town to shop and mingle with the locals.
A number of people of travelled many times to different Resorts in the Caribbean and everyone agreed that this is one resort we would recommend to everone.
So don't be afraid of other reviews go and see and experience for yourself. I would go back most definetly.
Never Again!

This was my first time to Jamaica, and after my experience with the Sunset Jamaica Grande, I will never return. My Air Jamaica experience was fairly uneventful, with the exception of an incredibly rude stewardess who refused to give my friend coffee upon request and forced me to keep my seat in an upright position the entire trip. Air Jamaica neglected to tell my group that the trip to Ocho Rios from Montego Bay was 2.5 hours in a cramped bus. On the way, we dropped off other passengers to other resorts. Those resorts looked beautiful and we had high expectations of the Sunset. Those were dashed upon arrival. The concierge was extremely rude, our rooms were not ready upon arrival, and there were no safes available to store our passports. Once our rooms were ready (over 1.5 hours later), we ran upstairs to find that the bathrooms were covered in mildew, our sheets were damp and smelled of mold, and our phone didn't work. The "delicious" buffet and grills advertised on the Sunset website served BAD cafeteria food, and the "authentic" delicacies consisted of grilled cheese and hamburgers. The beach view was consistently compromised by large cruise ships docked in the water. The only upside of the resort were the actual restaurants; we went to South Beach and it was amazing. Although we complained to management, they ignored us and refused to upgrade our rooms, extend our stay, or return our money. All in all, a horrible experience. Don't waste your money!
DON'T WAST YOUR MONEY

We were there from 11/5/07 - 11/12/07, spend the extra money for a nicer hotel. We paid extra for their Cabana rooms, what a joke! They state that the rooms are all ocean view and superb, they are not! The first room that they put us in was 104 and 105 which when you look through the sliding door there was a building! The next room 112 looked at a gazebo where they do weddings. Which they hold weddings there all time and you can't walk around because of the weddings and you don't want to sit on your patio while a wedding is going on at least we didn't. The staff, except for the bar tenders were rude, especially at the front desk and the main dining area. It rained a couple of days and the hotel leaks ALOT! Our room leaked and remember this was a "superb" room, but the lobby was really bad! Buckets and tape all around you could barely sit in there. You can not get towels or wash cloths! If you do want to waste your money on the cabana rooms, bring your own hair dryer, even though they say they have them, it is a vacum hose, seriously in a "superb" room! The food was all right if you don't get a reservation in to the specialty restruants the main dining room gets boring and can be a lot of the same food. The two good things about this place was the location you can walk downtown and shop. The second do the catamaran with Duane, it is excellent and free! If it rains when you are there, go downtown and get some liquor the two days it rained they ran out of liquor!

We really enjoyed our three night trip to the SJG! We stayed in the South Tower and although our room was "Resort View", we had an excellent view of the Blue Mountains and Ocean. The room was nicely equiped with a comfortable King size bed, cold AC and a large bathroom. There was a small balcony with a table and chairs - great spot to relax and take in the music drifting up from town. The common areas were very clean, updated and well maintained. We enjoyed sitting with drinks and listening to the local band in the beautiful, open air lobby. The food and drinks were plentiful and delicious - We really enjoyed the Ginger Lily. Drinks were good and strong - ask Keno to make you a Rum Runner (the best I've ever had!).The beach was very nice, but we put the water socks we packed to good use (lots of sea grass). The water was very calm and warm. We saw lots of great fish, baby sting rays and even a starfish snorkeling right off the beach. We did not have any trouble finding a lounge chair either on the beach or by any of the pools. Although we did not test out the waterslide ourselves, it appeared that many kids and adults were having a blast. We can highly recommend the rafts, paddle boats and jet ski - take a few steps down the beach and you'll likely save a few dollars if you book your motor sports directly from the guys on the beach. If you would like to go on a tour, we highly recommend the Ocho Rios Highlight tour. We had an awesome time climbing Dunn's River Falls, Loved Fern Gully and the Cayoba Gardens and found plenty of bargins shopping. Enjoy!
