I took this trip with my best friend. We didn’t stay long and we only stayed in the city. We walked around the Main Square and fed the pigeons, while Erin captured every instant of our trip with her camera. When we returned to the hotel, we sat down in the lobby and uploaded our photos and later we sent them to our friends and family. We had the best time looking at them and chatting with some friends we met at dinner time. Now we are planning to go back, and this time go to the Colca Canyon, where we heard there’s also a Libertador hotel so our expectations are quite high!

The first time I looked through my window, I was faced with all these impressive volcanoes which seem to guard the city. I felt peace and quiet in the hotel’s gardens and looking at that amazing view. I had that same feeling later on walking through the Santa Catalina Monastery, getting lost in their tiny little streets which took me back in time to Arequipa’s religious past, getting to know its history and costumes. Once I got back to the hotel, I went to the souvenir store where I purchased Arequipa’s religious replicas such as the Chapi virgin, the town’s saint which I still keep in my house.

We had been recommended to go to the Colca Canyon in Arequipa but when we asked for tickets there, they were sold out. When we arrived to this hotel, we discovered it was the starting point to the Colca Canyon so we decided to stay there. A relaxing hot shower and off we went to bed. As soon as I lay down I fell asleep. We woke up early to set off for Colca where I got to see the amazing condor flying over us as we took thousands of pictures of this fascinating bird. I had never seen anything like that before!

Walking around Arequipa’s streets is taking a walk through history. That’s how I felt from the moment I walked in the hotel, a hotel that keeps that legacy in its architecture and furniture. I really enjoyed sitting in the lobby on one of those rustic sofas…it took me back in time: times of peace and quiet, making my stay completely enjoyable. I remember once I fell asleep on one of those big sofas and one of the workers kindly suggested I went to my room and as soon as I touched my bed I passed out until the next morning, feeling refreshed and invigorated, ready for that day’s trip. Off we went!

I had to stop in Arequipa when we traveled to Cuzco, so we spent one night in this hotel. We found it very warm and always clean. All staff was very friendly and all the time they want to know if we need something. A good breakfast in the morning. In the short time we have left we went to the gift shop of hotel to buy small souvenirs. The airport is so near that we did not have drawbacks.
