Description: The Park Royal Cozumel Resort is a lush, clean and well-maintained Mayan-themed resort in Cozumel.
I am a part-time travel writer, writing mostly about Washington, DC and spent a 4-day weekend at the Park Royal, and I truly enjoyed my stay. (Check www.thedctraveler.com for my in depth review.)
The hotel is 10 minutes from the airport and 5 form downtown.
The hotel is situated across from the main cruise ship dock, so you can watch the cruise ships come and go. The property is all-inclusive, and includes all your meals, snacks, alcohol and beverages, taxes and tips.
It’s a comfortable, clean, well-maintained resort with a friendly staff and lots to do. Or if you want, you can just relax at one of the 4 pools, enjoy a margarita at one of the swim up bars and then have a great meal at one of their restaurants. The private beach is nestled between the two infinity pools, where you can swim or snorkel the nearby reef.
My room was great -- nicely decorated, two double beds and a small patio outside overlooking the ocean and resort. The room had a 27" TV with English and Spanish language programming, phone, walk-in shower, a large closet with an electronic safe. The room could have used a clock radio. I also liked the 2 bottles of water left by housekeeping each day
To get and two infinity pools, walk through the short tunnel and avoid crossing the main road. The property is situated on both sides of Avenue Rafael Melgar, but built in a way that it’s almost not noticeable.
The resort’s 4 pools include two beautiful infinity pools between their private beach. Each pool had a different feel, one was the activities pool, one was the noisy, fun pool and one was more quiet and relaxing. The beach was spotless and people were seen snorkeling and swimming.
I sampled both the main dining room and the two restaurants and the food was great. Significantly better than any all-inclusive resort I had stayed at before. The two a la carte restaurants (Mexican and Italian cuisine) offered great food, beautifully presented in a tropical setting. I loved the coconut grouper so much I had it twice for dinner.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets are offered at the main La Veranda restaurant. Each mean offered a wide range of Mexican, Caribbean and American fare with the selections changing daily. All drinks and cocktails are included as well.
The staff was great, very helpful, accommodating and provided service with a smile on every opportunity. The resort is also immaculately clean and well maintained.
In summary, my experience was wonderful.
