We just came back on June 6, 2009 for a one week vacation in Cozumel. We stayed at the Park Royal and to us was fabulous. The place was wonderful. The food, staff, resort are excellent. We miss the staff that made our stay really fun. The nightly entertainment with audience participation such as looking for Mr Park Royal, who's the best couple, Casino game, Male vs Female game were very entertaining and funny. We are definitely coming back to this place. This resort is the BEST. Family from Mather Calif May 30 - Jun 6 2009

My wife and I stayed here June 1-5 and enjoyed our stay here. I would say this was one of the best vacations and places we have ever stayed at. The staff was friendly and very helpful on any questions or needs we had. The hotel has 3 pools that has bars at each of them. I recommend the ones by the ocean front, our bartender was the best. The resort had shows every night in which we ended up being picked for the couples night, that was a blast. They have a sports bar that we hit during the night if wasnt at Senor Frogs. I recommend renting a Jeep and driving to the other side of the island and eat at this place called Chen Rio, they have the best seafood on the island. If you visit the ruins be aware that the guy who want to take your picture will cost you $5. Found that after he took ours. The only complaint that I had was the timeshare folks at the hotel and airport, they dont call themselves timeshare but presentation outfit. He told me he could save me $100 on things like rentals and other stuff, I told him I would pay the extra $100 just so I didnt have to go to some presentation. After that they left me alone Also that dang peacock is like a rooster, one ray of morning light and he went off. I was having Forest Gump dreams on how many different ways I could cook peacock.....boiled peacock, fried peacock, creole peacock. We didnt bring our 12 year old daughter but will next year, there was plently of activities for the younger group as well.

A Great Weekend Experience

A Great Weekend Experience

The Park Royal Cozumel Resort is a lush, clean and well-maintained Mayan-themed resort in Cozumel.

I am a part-time travel writer, writing mostly about Washington, DC and spent a 4-day weekend at the Park Royal, and I truly enjoyed my stay. (Check www.thedctraveler.com for my in depth review.)

The hotel is 10 minutes from the airport and 5 form downtown.

The hotel is situated across from the main cruise ship dock, so you can watch the cruise ships come and go. The property is all-inclusive, and includes all your meals, snacks, alcohol and beverages, taxes and tips.

It’s a comfortable, clean, well-maintained resort with a friendly staff and lots to do. Or if you want, you can just relax at one of the 4 pools, enjoy a margarita at one of the swim up bars and then have a great meal at one of their restaurants. The private beach is nestled between the two infinity pools, where you can swim or snorkel the nearby reef.

My room was great -- nicely decorated, two double beds and a small patio outside overlooking the ocean and resort. The room had a 27" TV with English and Spanish language programming, phone, walk-in shower, a large closet with an electronic safe. The room could have used a clock radio. I also liked the 2 bottles of water left by housekeeping each day

To get and two infinity pools, walk through the short tunnel and avoid crossing the main road. The property is situated on both sides of Avenue Rafael Melgar, but built in a way that it’s almost not noticeable.

The resort’s 4 pools include two beautiful infinity pools between their private beach. Each pool had a different feel, one was the activities pool, one was the noisy, fun pool and one was more quiet and relaxing. The beach was spotless and people were seen snorkeling and swimming.

I sampled both the main dining room and the two restaurants and the food was great. Significantly better than any all-inclusive resort I had stayed at before. The two a la carte restaurants (Mexican and Italian cuisine) offered great food, beautifully presented in a tropical setting. I loved the coconut grouper so much I had it twice for dinner.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets are offered at the main La Veranda restaurant. Each mean offered a wide range of Mexican, Caribbean and American fare with the selections changing daily. All drinks and cocktails are included as well.

The staff was great, very helpful, accommodating and provided service with a smile on every opportunity. The resort is also immaculately clean and well maintained.

In summary, my experience was wonderful.

Nice All-Inclusive Resort in Quiet Cozumel

Nice All-Inclusive Resort in Quiet Cozumel

I spent 4 days at this resort at the end of April and really enjoyed it (and I'm very picky about the places I stay at when I travel).

The resort itself was kept extremely clean by the very friendly staff - everyone smiles and says hello. The bartenders at all three of the swim-up pool bars knew what we liked to drink by the second day and were very friendly, happy, and funny.

As for the food, I pretty much liked everything that I tried, even in the buffet restaurant which was well above average for a buffet. The Italian restaurant was my favorite, and they also have a really good Mexican restaurant - but you should know that Mexican food in Mexico is different from what we are used to here in the US, which is a very "americanized" form of Tex-Mex - rather the food at the mexican restaurant at the Park Royal is fresh and very tasty, and very artfully presented. You won't find tacos served with rice and beans, but you'll like what they offer anyway. just be sure to make reservations early in the day for the Italian or Mexican restaurants - they're not very big so they can't accomodate everyone at the resort, which is why reservations are required. Also the hamburgers at the beach grill were really good.

Although all the rooms "face" the ocean, you may want to be sure you are on the 4th floor or above if having a view of the ocean from your room is important to you - below that is Pool view. The only nagative about the rooms is the lack of typical amenities - they provide shampoo, but no conditioner, lotion, cotton balls/swabs, shower cap, etc (the kind of things you find in many other resorts), so pack some travel-sized toiletries of your own. On the other hand, they were generous with the bottled water, which many other resorts charge for.

There is no internet available in the rooms, but there is high-speed wireless internet in the comfortable lobby/breezeway, which I found to be reliable and speedy, and I rather enjoyed spending a bit of time in the mornings having a cup of coffee and checking my email while watching guests come and go.

Lastly, if you enjoy souvenir shopping, the Park Royal is only about a 5 minute cab ride from the downtown shopping district with plenty of typical souvenir shops and a few restaurants/bars, including some well known "chain" places like Senor Frog's, Margaritaville, and Carlos 'n Charlie's.

I would recommend this resort to couples looking for a nice quiet getaway or anyone who wants to dive or snorkel some nice reefs, and who likes the 'all inclusive' concept.
