Scenery was really inspiring. We stayed in the hotel and our son in one of the villas. Both balconies had great views. The weather was warm (June) but a cool breeze blew in off the bay for most of the day. Rooms were clean, spacious and equipped with central heat and air, TV (cable), and telephones. Rooms were cleaned daily and towels and washcloths replaced. Food was local fare but well prepared and quite good. Food and drinks (including bar) were included in vacation package.
The hotel staff was very helpful and completely unobtrusive. Some of the staff are bi-lingual (Spanish/English) to an extent. A working knowledge of Spanish is helpful but not vital. The pools (two) were clean and full. A wet bar was featured in one of the pools.
The internet service was wireless. Usually it was acceptable but travelers would be well advised to know how to set up their wireless service through an infrastructure access point. There was no WEP or MAC address filtering. A Firewall and a good AV program are a must. No internet was available in the villas, only from the hotel. Villa guests brought their laptops to the hotel lobby to get access.
The beach was typical for the area, dark sand. Limited amenities on the beach. Rentals available on beach front for jetski's and kayaks. They really push the tours on the beach (fishing, rafting and rainforest sky treks).
The resort is laid out well. There are activities every day and evening. Activities are available for children. The resort is very "family friendly". Transportation is available around the resort continually during the day.
