Where do I start well 1st we where suppose to stay at the Barceló Bavaro Beach, but when we got to DR we where told that our hotel was under repair. So we would be staying at the Barceló Bavaro Caribe. The 1st room was dirty; it looked like it wasn?t cleaned for weeks. Our phone didn?t work, the toilet made a lot of noise every time you flushed it, the bathtub had a leak so every time we took showers the floor would become a swimming pool. The 2nd room they gave us was a bit cleaner, and we thought we where set but we found out @ 3am when we where coming home from the club that the door didn?t work so we couldn?t get in so we waited for about an hour or so for a rude reception worker to try to fix the door so we could go inside. The worst part was that the people where every rude and made us feel like they already had our money so what ever service they gave us was ok. So after not so nice words on our part they moved us to a 3rd room in three days, which was ok to say the least. The only good part about our vacation was the beach?. BEAUTIFUL! I would NEVER stay in this hotel again or RECOMMENED it to anyone for that matter!

My third trip and my last. First was supposed to be at Beach and was placed in Caribe due to overflow. My travel agent messed up and got me moved to Palace for last 4 nights. Second visit was at Palace and this visit I finally made it to the Beach because Palace price was far too high.
I am just tired of no service until/unless you tip. Very few (REALLY..VERY FEW) staff will look at you or greet you unless they receive a tip or expect a tip. I prefer to tip for good service, not tip before good service is rendered. I am just too tired of the impersonal nature Dominicans are known for.
The Palace is nice and I was very happy with the food choices and service was better but a stay there can be pricey. Would never recommend the Caribe, it was filthy, smelly and all the babies and small children rule the place. Take the Beach for an affordable vacation and don't expect much for friendliness, quality service or food.
Good choice, little chance you'll be dissatisfied

Hotels are very nice. Must remember, this is one of five and they are all relatively close. They have a little train that takes you to each hotel constantly. I would suggest not booking on online travel website and rather hotel website. They looked at my print out like they've never heard of online travel website and waited 1 hour for them to confirm it. After that, everything was good. Free drinks, unlimited food, and the food is above average, not just bread and cheese. Steaks, burgers, pizzas, anything really. Drinks great, just tell em to fill it with as much alcohol as you want. The activities were pretty overpriced, and me and my girlfriend only did the segway excursion. 25 dollars each for an hour tour on the beach and through different routes through surrounding forests. We enjoyed it quite a bit. The air conditioning in the room wasn't that great and was actually kind of annoying at night. The entertainment at night was pretty good, and comedic. The beaches were completely empty at night and were great to walk on as a couple. Very romantic, Very quiet. The casino was usually empty, but we ended up losing 500 pesos in less than 3 minutes... the minimum bets were ridiculous. Couldn't really enjoy it. But most people stayed at the Beach resort, so it was the most busiest. The others, not including the Palace, were relatively empty. There was usually something to keep our attention... At night, the clubs weren't open when we went for some reason, but Ive heard there not bad. Taxis were ridiculous if you live local and need to take a taxi to the bus station, or needed to get to the hotel from the front gate. Overall, when the price lowers, its a great choice. Not for 200+ tho.
Had fun!

The room was hot! A/C needed to be fixed. The food was good! Loved the Mexican and the Italian restaurants! The wait staff in the Italian restaurant was exceptional!Mini Bar and room staff were seperate. If you want more water, leave GUM and a few bucks on the mini bar. If you want extra towels, leave GUM and a few dollars on your night stand...don't forget the note!Everyone was nice to us, maybe because WE were nice to all of them!have fun! Don't be an "ugly American", like some people think we are.
