Not Quality for Disabled

Front desk was friendly, but the experience went downhill from there. Booked one wheelchair accessible room and one regular room. Regular room was ok. Wheelchair accessible room smelled musty. I am allergic to mold and mildew and my allergies acted up. Queen bed for two was too small, more like full. Heater cycled on and off every few minutes. Air flow through room whistled around door and door jam all night. Clearance between corner and refrigerator was not ADA compliant; it was only about 26 inches. Tight turn in front of sink to get wheelchair turned into bathroom required too much maneuvering in chair. Room did have a roll-in shower, but portable shower head needed tension adjusting as it would not hold its position except when pointed all the way up or swung all the way down. breakfast was to be ready at 0630 hours, but the staff didn't begin to set up until 0635. It wasn't ready for patrons unitl nearly 0650 hours. Room literature indicates to see front desk for list of local restaurants. However, front desk could only provide a verbal list and clerk recommended a diner where she had "heard" that the food was really good. It wasn't. The menu selection was mostly greasy foods, and very poor. Service at the diner was awful! I would not stay there, again, and I would not recommend it for disabled travelers.

Jack Tar Village

This was a fantastic all inclusive "adult only" accommodation. You name the facility they had it. Including fantastic food (better than I expected by far) in 1 buffet restaurant which had theme nights and always a new spin on their own cultural delights. There were also 3 a la carte including one Caribean, one seafood and one Italian. You were allowed to eat once at each a la carte. Our favourite by far was the Italian. It was a small secluded and very romantic dining room tucked in the corner of the casino. You were served by at least 3 servers for each table that pampered you through 4 coarses and of coarse after dinner liquors. I do not eat red meat and had more than I could ever eat in choices every single night.

The resort had every activity you could imagine. The tennis courts we impecible the pools spotless. There were two pools, the quiet area, with an attached swim up bar. This was by far the favourite. As well as a shallow activity pool. The beach was windy but clean, safe and great for swimming, snorkling, catamarans, boogy boarding and just hanging out.

Our room was amazing and clean, and the service throughout the resort was 5 star. We went during a slow period and found out later people asked for upgraded suites and they got them just for asking. We had great fun at the casino but be aware. If you play in anything but us$ you will only win in Dominican pesos and there is no exchanging them back. We won a bit and had to use it for soveniers. At the casino there is black jack, roulette, slots and caribean poker. We were disappointed that they didn''t have the craps table going. They said it was too slow. If I had to choose a disappointing aspect I think it would be the entertainment they provided at night. It was a far cry from other resorts I have visited and did not necessarily keep us captivated.

If you''re looking to sink into a great, relaxing couples getaway this is the one.

One other hint, we picked this trip on a last minute club and got at least 25% off the going rate. If your going away during a slow period look one of these clubs up they are worth it. To sum up this spectacular experience so you know how great it was just imagine the tips are included but we could not help but tip everyone who came to our service. It was just that great!
