Hotel review of the Hotel Bonvecchiati

The front desk service was perfunctory. I asked if I could print a boarding pass and was told that I would have to go to a travel agency or internet cafe. In their brochure, internet service was listed. Our room was very small-not at all like any of the pictures in their brochure. We did not have drapes on our 2 windows - only sheer curtains. Our bathroom was old but fairly clean. The shower looked as if it had mold in the corners. The bathroom did not look like any of the pictures in their brochure. To get our luggage into the room we had to move the bed over so that we could open the door wide enough. There was nothing "classic" or "elegant" about our room. I would have been willing to pay more for a more decent room. The dining room for dinner opened at 7 and required reservations. We couldn't wait that long to eat, so we found a great pizzeria down a few alleys and had a good meal. The breakfast the next morning was very nice. There was a wonderful selection of foods to choose from. Although the location was very good, I would not choose to stay in this hotel again.

My granddaughter and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It's centrally located and easy to find once you get there the first time from the Grand Canal. We chose to drag our suitcases up and down the one canal that you must cross to get to the hotel rather than take a gondola. This hotel might be difficult to access if you were disabled. The staff is pleasant, speak English, and were helpful in answering any questions we had. Our view was of a wall. That's really the only complaint I'd have of this hotel.
