I would recommend this hotel if, like me, you put more emphasis on seeing the sights than having a choice of pillow types. I’m normally up at the crack of dawn and crawling back at sunset. I ended up getting the hotel through Priceline, and after checking the reviews on Trip Advisor, I thought my luck had run out. I must say, though, that I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel, and you couldn’t beat its location. The San Marco Piazza was, at most, a 5-minute walk. The hotel is older, shows its age, and is considered a three-star, but don’t let that turn you off. The room was very clean, and the staff was friendly--something I’ve found lacking in other trips. Being January, it was cold, but the heater worked just fine, and the shower had an unlimited supply of hot water with decent pressure.
My biggest complaint would be the noise. The hotel sits on a fairly large square, and there is a main footpath running the length of the hotel. Due to the close proximity of the neighboring building, the footsteps, laughter, and other noise seemed to echo into our second-floor room. The room rate included a continental breakfast; normally Priceline rooms don't include any extras. Not a bad room for 70 euros.
